  • VIcky to EU II

    Think it can be done?

Over in the Vicky forums, this generally gets a terse "No," but I think it can be done, though there are aspects that don't translate.

What would need to be changed to make it work?

Railroads could be turns into roads, but without the ability to build new ones or improve old ones.

Factories and such should be fine.

    Crime is okay.

Socialism and Communism is definately a problem.

    No missionaries.

    Colonization is different.

    No terra incognita or exploration.

    No royal marriages.

Tech would have to be rewritten.

    What else?

That's already very, very bad. Religious intolerance/conversions, colonization and exploration are extremely important elements in EU2, that are nearly inexistent in Vicky.

besides, in EU2, your regime is more or less apt for diplomacy, economy, commerce etc. (the political slider system) which doesn't work in Vicky at all.

There's also the world market, that is a large problem: EU2 countries didn't have access to all of the world's resources (because of insufficient exploration, transportation, and because of mercantilism). Short of shutting down the world market, and make each country strive for its own resources (which is unrealistic as well), I don't see how the problem can be solved.

You could get around the WM issue with a suitable allocation of prestige (although with only the one everybody outside Europe is going to be royally screwed).
Religion could be 'simulated' by event (increased RR etc) although with a hundred odd countries and many more provinces you'd be pretty stretched to do it all.

Basically it seems like an awful lot of work without a great deal of reward?

It's highly likely EU3 will be out by the time you're finished.

It's not even in development yet, don't get your underies in an uproar. Hell, so far, it's only a dream in the minds of fans.

But anyways... why would you want to convert Victoria into EU2?

More acurate provinces, roads, changing primary products, pops with multiple religions and ethnicities, etc.

It can. I don't remember all the changes, but I think there could be made more than 200 new provinces with the new betas. Then again, that is only taken from my, in this case, not totally reliable memory.

There's 400 new provinces possible in beta, but no one has yet succeeded in actually making a map, plus there's lots of arguments about every detail. It will be quite some time before that happens.
