  • I have MOHAA, should I also get Battlefield 1942?

I'm playing MOHAA and I'm enjoying myself. Battlefield 1942 is another EA game out there.

What are the major differences between the two? Are they sufficiently different, so that it's worth buying both? Or is it just EA squeezing us?

BF1942 has bigger maps and requires better PC stats... that's for sure.
I've tried both of them, yet don't own either one.

Forgot to add my opinion about your question.

I don't think that you should buy both of them, unless you've got some money to spend and you don't want to save it. You don't need more than one good MP FPS.

Actuelly the approach is abit different as the maps are larger, less detailed, there's no skins, you can operate tanks, jeeps, APCs, airplanes, ships (the largest one is the Japanese battleship Yamato), more theatres (Pacific, East, West, Africa) and countries (USA, Britain, Germany and Soviet Union), and a not that sophisticated SP (the game is heavily MP targeted). MoH:AA has smaller maps, detailed maps, better handarm modelling (IMO), has a decent SP campaign and fewer countries (only USA and Germany). You might also be interested that Digital Illusions, which is the development studio behind BF1942, is actually Swedish as it's well-known (i.e. the game is Swedish) and the company has AB in the title screen. None the less I like both games.

I have looked at forums and a very prevalent theme is getting it to run.Never a good thing to see many struggling with crashes and what not.

EA is usually a safe bet though. They make good games.Especially sports.

You sure about this? It worked fine with my friends PC, AFAIK.
BF42 is a better MP yes, but if you already have MOHAA, there's no need to 'upgrade'.

Hm, I suspect my PC is to slow for BF1942. It crashes if I run MOHAA with all the eye candy cranked up to max, but the game runs decently otherwise and still has nice graphics.

I saw your other thread, and I agree.
