I've got mixed feeligns about this. Remembering the fun-filled days of Heroes I, II and eventualy III, I can't help but feel that the series is moving away from its roots. HoMM has always felt cartoonish and gimmicky. That's some of the charm of the game. Still they've got to have new ideas. We can't have every game be a rehash of HoMM I.*grumbles about work*

Hopefully they'll get hexes back in the H5 version- but the H5 graphics are a noted improvement from H4... I could live with H5's textures.
Shadowstrike- yes I like the cartoonish feel of H1/2... but H3's realism was good- it kept the basic idea and made the game more sophisiticated.
Better artwork opens the game to more people!

*nod* Better (more realistic) artwork did help Heroes III - especially since it moved towards being a more serious fantasy game (Serious in the Funny/Serious scale and not in it not being a real strategy game). I gues what eventually put me off it was how the game switched its trend from just adding more, to drastically chanigng some aged tradition (the hero towns, for instance). I suppose that's just me being old fashioned, though. New concepts are worthwhile additions after all.Originally posted by DarkCloud
