        Easy rule of thumb - avoid anything with the number 2000 in the title. ANYTHING - there are no exceptions, I'm afraid.

          Well, I don't do PC rpgs, unless you count the Oregon Trail-my computer has never been up to par enough to play 'em. As for consoles:
          Crono Trigger is of course awesome, as are Secret of Mana and Seiken 3. Never played their PS equivalents.
          I actually liked the SaGa series. Yes, I know, I'm stupid.
          All the FFs except 2(awful system) and 6(poor balance and the plot disintegrated halfway through, plus you're stuck trying to level up all the chars you never used just so you can get through the final dungeon).
          Star Ocean 2. Yeah, baby.
          Shining Force 2.
          And of course, the Phantasy Stars, first RPGs I ever played.
