yes but i mean if you do directplay... typing in the ip and connecting to a host....

does that work? because it could be done in AoK..

Actually, W3 was okay, i finished it, but the story was ... just a story, the burning legion was cool though.. i just found it annoying that you didn't have all the units at your disposal immediately, i would just get a new unit every new mission, kinda got boring , and when i had all units and techs etc, i went on to the next race!!

random missions got repetitive as you couldn't get loads of units...
either you immediately get killed or your teammates kill before being able to do something yourself..

As I think I said before I believe you need a cd key to play directplay, but not one of the supersecret ones that enable you to play on ESO. Don't worry.......I have a few, and I don't think they have to be unique for directplay anyway. Best thing to do is try and see, because I don't know for sure what will or will not work. Hopefully will come online tonight or tomorrow and we can check it out.

Just played my first rated game on ESO. I played as Zeus and beat a pretty awful n00b called Lou who was playing Hades.
He went Classical in 5:30 (compared to my 7:20), but my early raiding of his econ revealed that he wasn't much good at the game. A quick hoplite rush later he resigned.

woot! My rating has gone up to 1615.

For anyone interested ICQ me at 101151010, even though usually I'm on ESO with name of, of course, Solver. An excellent game this one.

And no, I don't play DirectIP due to some technical limits, so go buy the game anyone who hasn't .

What? You need a legal copy to play online? Damn

In theory no, you can still play direct IP games. However to update all that are interested I tested it tonight with FP and AOM doesn't (necessarily) support direct IP play from behind a NAT router.......which a lot of people (even those that bought the game) are quite annoyed about.

woohoo, but directplay is possible!! But what the hell is ESO, isn't that the Zone you mean? or what...?

sweet stuff! hell I don't even think of buying the game, i can get 100 empty 700MB CDs for the price of a brand new game... i just don't have the money to buy me a few games once in a while

If I do buy one game, I have no access to food for bit less than 2 weeks

It's like copying songs from the radio, you have the songs, it's cheaper, but there are several disadvantages to it
(for example, there's often the lack of music, movies, mp play etc)

Yes if you have a 56K modem you could host and I could join......not ideal but the only chance.

The Zone isn't used for Age of Mythology.
It's ESO (Ensemble Studios Online) instead.

                                Guys:

ESO supports ANY NAT (mine was 100% blocked till recently), and I could play.

AoM's latest patch lets you run it with a parameter that will make DirectIP playable under NAT too, BUT, to install the patch, you need the legal game.
