Could you send that girl in your avatar to me. She looks like a real sweety. Bet she wants to smooch a bit.

Question, should i go for the new course at school called "introduction to bridge?
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

            1. Yes you should take the course.

            2. SG, we've had some good threads in the past. (search back in this forum under my username.) I will post some interesting stuff in a little while

I had a good run of luck...and am getting better...and am getting more used to playing the game. So I am now purple on pogo (expert) for the first time.

I've gotta practice my bidding -- my gameplay's still fine, but Euchre's atrophied my ability to get a decent contract.

I'm not a "bridge player." Best say I know how to play bridge, and leave it at that.

The last time I played in a competition was when I was home from college and my Mom's bridge club was meeting at our house. One person had to leave, and I got drafted into playing the last hand. I thought my partner had the Queen and misplayed. Anyone with real skills would have known the other team had to have it, based on the bids and the cards played before that trick.

The good news: my gaff moved the pair from next to last place to last place, and therefore they got the "booby prize" (basically getting your $2 back from the pool).

Ming and I used to play in duplicate tournament when we were 15. Are their any online services for playing. It could be fun. I'm sure I could talk ming into playing as my partner.

Bridge is pretty cool. I like it. Too bad I can't find any local players.

I was surprised that those little old ladies at bridge tournaments were so serious. One move they didn't like and they'd call director on you. They clearly hadn't heard Goren said:

You should only play bridge for fun. If you find yourself playing for something else, you should pack up and move on.
                            Probably paraphrased.

So we sometimes did things just to annoy them.

We always saw more than our fair share of the Director.
Since we were quite identical back then. (we even would dress in identical clothing to screw with their heads) and with our card marked frequent for pysch bids, these old morons would assume that we had some type of telepathy thing going. The absurdity of it never ceased to amaze me. And yes, they took it way way to serious.
