What a great game - decent AI, and a faithful representation of the game around the time it was released, in some form of plot.

Only thing is, I can't get it to run under XP, including the compatability modes. It works fine under my install of 98, but it's a pain having to reboot all the time. Has anyone got it to work under XP, and if so, how?

The game's all right, but gets repetitive after a while. I sold my copy six months ago.

Not tried it under XP, sorry, but there's a few weeks before HoI and MOO3 appear so I'll try and get it installed. I'd like to see a new version of the game with new cards, better AI and something to encourage multicolour decks more, since I pretty much did the old game to death

You might still be able to buy it, I'm not sure. It certainly doesn't show up as abandonware on any sites. OTOH, that might just mean that Microprose are arsey. You could always try eBay.

Which worries me slightly, as I appear to be getting into the actual cards version. I took part in a friendly draft tourney recently, so I now possess about 120 cards (mine and a friend's who didn't want them), and I really like the game. I'm thinknig I might start casually buying a few packs once 8th comes out, which I'm told should be sometime in the Spring. Nothing serious, you understand, just a few boosters, or maybe a Tourn pack or 2 to get some lands, then just a handful when a new expansion comes out just to keep up.

                But still, it worries me.

                  But still, it worries me.
u should, because i purchased one 60 card deck because it looked cool, but after 2 years, i spent around 300$ in all cards..... not funny for a 14-18 years old highschool student.

I realized this could ruin my life so i sold them (around 150 $ all of them) and got free from MtG..... but believe me....this is crack.... after 4 years, i STILL think of it sometimes.....

                    That's nothing.

I bought a total of 10 boxes - boxes, not packs - of various expansions during my haydays. You're right, it is like crack. The only way to break free is go cold turkey.

                    But still, it worries me.
The only way to avoid this is to stick with seal decks and drafts.

Same here. I'd like to sell them off but that means having to sit down and sort them all out. What a nightmare!

I was big into this game around the time the very first sets were released. As a junior high kid then I didn't have too much money to spend on cards but with tons of time spent trading I managed to place in a couple of tourneys. I got bored with it soon and managed to sell all my cards for over $500 bucks and I still have some laying around in my closet.

Anybody want to buy a beta chaos orb or a gauntlet of might? hehe

Those cards are worth a pretty penny.

Myself, I have no problem only buying 1-3 booster packs from each expansion, and looting the commons box. You can create quite nice decks that way, I tied for 5th in a constructed tourney out of 14 recently with a variant on the Grave Danger preconstructed theme deck. Insures you don't go too nuts with the card buying.
