  • Medieval: Total War

I just read this and it looks really great. Has anyone played Shogun: Total War and is it a good series?
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

If you get the game, get Shogun Total War: Warlord Edition (it's comes in a white box). It contains all the patches, expansion pack, etc.

Excellent game IMHO, especially compared to what's out there. The game LOOKS great, the production values are very high, and the battles are huge. . .

For a more in-depth look at the game, check out reviews by people who have played it:

Shogun: Total War is alright, grab a copy if it is in the bargain bin. Very little replay value.

Thoroughly enjoyed the basic S:TW and at budget price it should be very good vfm. I didn't try the expansion but I understand it did address the flaws in the original that made it boring to replay

I've played the Medieval demo: Stunning
          Just my 2p.
Which is more than a 2 cents, about one cent more.
Which shows you learn something every day.

            Great series

A must have for any RTS gamer; except for hardcore Starcrafters.

Well is was a hardcore Starcrafter so . I played the demo of Shogun and it was quite fun, not very fast paced but still. Nice graphics.

Yeah, that's why I injected my Starcraft comment.

Its definately a slower paced RTS wargame that deals with formations and troop positioning a lot more than most of its peers.

BTW, there is a TBS element to the single-player mode too where you manage your "empire" and move your armies around Japan. I wish they had incorporated that into the multiplayer, but they never did.

The option to multiplayer the full game not just the battles would certainly have been good. It would have demanded save/restore capabilities though because there is no way you could get a game done in an evening and some way of passing the time while 2 other players fought . Heck, you're unlikely to get a game of the original Shogun boardgame done in an evening where resolving the battles just took rolling a few dice

Now I've learnt of some kind of assassination thingie that supposedly could end the game in a second. I want a strategy game not some crappy RPG mix! Please fill me in on this, I hope im wrong.

Not if you play my wife: she kicks my a$$ everytime!

                          It's very de-masculating.

A demo for Medieval - Total War has been released , its 235mb though...

Maybe I'll download it later or wait for a magazine CD with it, 235 is much even if you've got DSL and especially if the server is slow...
