  • Sound Cards ?

Here in the UK Creative Labs seem to have a virtual monopoly on the sound card market - so it seems strange to us when recently released games often ship with problems with / patches for CL cards. The obvious conclusion is that that the UK market is considered unimportant and that other cards dominate the (presumed more important) North American market.

What sound card do you have?

    SG[1]

    Mine's a CL 1024 Live! with 4 speaker + sub-woofer from LabTec

I'm using a (Creative Labs) Sound Blaster PCI 128.

It's old, and is unsupported by alot of newer software.

a creative labs audigy. I was going to buy the videologic sonicfury but the audigy was an impulse buy at Paddington station.

I believe Creative dominates the sound card market pretty much everywhere... I've got an SB 1024 Live! BTW also with a 4.1 sound system.

At home, I have the ultra-famous Master Riptide PCI, courtesy of Conexant, but at work, I use the all-purpose standard onboard speaker. Although, I suspect I may have a hard drive with a built-in sound component... hehe

yeah I had one of those - until it broke quite spectacularly sending 40Gig of games all over the study ...

Bummer. Luckily, I keep a backup copy of my critical stuff -- gaming data, of course --- I couldn't afford to lose all of my saves and high scores!

Shhh... I use the Avance Logic ALS 100 sound card...

It's so old, it is on the ISA bus. And of course it isn't plug and play...

                            Another SB Live here.
It was of course the best bargain I have gotten for my computer though - the guy I bought it off forgot to charge me for it!!
My friend was chatting to the sales person as he put the sale through the computer, he finished that and handed me the receipt, but forgot the step where he was supposed to get money off me.

I think that saved me $150.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
