Airline Tycoon by Spellbound/Monte Cristo Games............

Anyone ever play this? It's actually quite addicting for a "tycoon" type game. It's another one of those your in charge of an airline game. You have to make money by transporting passengers/cargo etc. etc.

The reason why I think this game is entertaining however is the humor that is a part of the game. The sabotage shop that is available is a devilish way to stop your opponents from becoming more successful than you.

    Anyways...........................

I have played the game, and yes, it was quiet addicting for a month or so, but when only playing SP the game becomes a little boring...But I liked the humor...

I've not tried this one. It has to be better than Airport Tycoon, which is ghastly and not worth contemplating, even at budget prices.

        ADG:

Yeah it does get boring after a while in SP mode. This is one of those games that you play for a while, forget about, then play again later.

Airline Tycoon is a great game worthy of picking up at bargain bin prices. I've never played Airport Tycoon but all the reviews I've read say the game is abysmal.

It must have started life as a real airport design tool, but even at that it fails miserably.

Unfortunately the Tycoon series has become thoroughly devalued by seemingly every company in the world pushing any old tat into a box and labelling it a Tycoon sim. There are a couple of obvious gems but most of the rest are appalling. I'll keep an eye out for Airline at a fiver

You got that right, though since I love the idea of tycoon games I have to try all of them, though most of them even fail in the demo.

Most of the games has tons of bugs (Like Car Tycoon. I'm one of the few lucky people who can play the game), and then there's a lot of those who has very little entertainment value (Casino Tycoon, Moon Tycoon)

One of the few tycoon games which is pretty old, but is still played present day is RollerCoaster Tycoon. We need more of that type of game

I preferred Transport Tycoon because I prefer making routes to making rollercoasters, but they were both excellent. The trouble with all the sim games so far seem to be their inevitability. Build A and it will make you money, so you can afford to make B which will make you more money. By the time you can afford K you are ludicrously rich and unstoppable. At least in Transport Tycoon Deluxe you had to fight off (or take over) the competition. So many other games are just sandboxes. No-one can interfere with your profitability nor can you attack theirs.

Yeah...It could be cool if they made RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 to be playble in MP. This means you don't have the whole park for yourself, and then you don't just built some cheap RollerCoaster to make some money, but you have to built a RollerCoaster which is better than the enemies Coasters...

The coaster construction leaves me cold, but I can see the appeal for those who like it. All parks attracting customers from each other if they have bigger/better/faster/scarier rides. Or go for different audiences - those aiming for the under 9's and young parents could build Disneyland while others aim straight at the white knuckle 13-30 brigade.

I liked Transport Tycoon Deluxe as well. I think it's very appealing to start out with ancient vehicles and watch the new models come out so you can transport goods more efficiently.

I just saw a link about a new version of Airline Tycoon that is in the works. Here's the link. http://www.azursoft.fr/gameup.com/news/?id=2343

It's in french but has very good screenshots. One of the new features of this upcoming game is that you can now design your own aircraft. No word yet on when this is due out though.

If you want a serious "Airline Tycoon" look for an 'Areobiz Supersonic' SNES ROM.

I have that game! It truely is a classic. What was really fun about that game was the easy to use interface. It was easier to setup routes, buy planes, etc. in Aerobiz Supersonic than in Airline Tycoon. Both are great games but appeal to the brain in different ways if you get my meaning.
