    The other outcome is that they get unenthusiastic responses from their testers (assuming they have them) and the beancounters go to work to decide whether they:

    - cancel immediately and lose all the development costs
    - release immediately and try to recoup some or all of those costs
    - fix some minor issues they tink will improve the cost/return ratio
    - plough in lots more cash to really transform the game in anticipation of making back all the extra outlay plus more of the original investment than would otherwise be possible.

    Add to all of those a variable factor based on how much they think it will impact on the company reputation and how much they care about that compared to the financial implications.
    To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.
