  • Planescape Torment - Quick interface question

I picked up a cheapie copy of this a couple weeks ago, and just started playing. So far it's very cool, and pretty straightforward, but there's one thing the manual is ambiguous about: do I always have to find a trainer to change classes, even if I've been that class before? Example: right now I'm a level-5 thief, but I'm in a situation where it would be more useful to be the level-4 fighter I used to be. Is there any way to switch identities from my control screens? Or do I have to find some guy to retrain me as a fighter?

    You have to retrain.

Ummmm, if you have a certain character in your party, they can train you... but seeing as how you're kind of a low level, you may not have them.

BTW, if you ever end up grabbing a bunch of handkerchiefs, don't toss them to the side of the road. (20 hours wasted)

Thanks! I'll soldier on, then. I keep getting the feeling I should have someone else in the party besides me and Morte -- my dialog options keep mentioning Annah, and she's also listed as a PC in my journal -- but I swear I haven't met her yet. Hope I haven't screwed up. And I'll remember to keep the hankerchiefs! As far as I can tell, the only problem with the game is the fixed number of inventory slots, that lead you to discard things almost constantly; I much prefer Fallout's purely weight-based inventory.

      Thanks again!

Nope, you haven't missed Annah, and most of the NPCs that join your party come later in the game. It is just you and Morte for most of the beginning.

If you have Annah in your PC list, I think it means you've met her. It's not important though since you can't pick her up till later. The next character you pick up is Drakkan, either him or Morte are the best characters (combat wise) in the game.

You can pick up Drakkan, extremely quickly. Annah, is next easiest, if that's the lady I'm thinking about.
