  • Diablo II question

Ok, I'm trying to get to the secret cow level, which is supposedly accessed after you beat the game once, you take wirt's leg, a tome of town portal, and transmute them in the horadric cube. while you're in the rogue's town. . but when i try that, my character says something like "i can't do that now" and nothing happens. What gives?
i do have the expansion, if that has something to do with it. anyone know?

    ck,
With the expansion installed, you have to beat Baal in act V, I believe before you can access the Cow level (I think I read this at diabloii.net somewhere after I tried the same thing with my assassin)

Were you still in the same difficulty lvl you beat Baal in when you attempted to access the Cow lvl? If you were, I'd suggest talking to Blizzard tech support.

were you in normal or nightmare difficulty when you tried accessing the cow level? if you were in nightmare, you need to be in normal.

for example: I beat baal the first time, and I want to access the cow lvl. I would have to go back to normal difficulty act 1, and transmute it there, not act 1 nightmare.

I also think you need to find the wirts leg from the normal game (though don't quote me on this).

            My sequence involves the following

Beat Baal (or diablo for non-expansion). Create a new normal level game (or if you beat baal on nightmare, create a new nightmare level game etc.). Go to stony field and enter tristram. Get wirts leg, go back to town and buy tome of town portal from akara. Put tome of town portal and wirts leg in horadric cube and transmute. A red portal should open.

but I have a question? I play D2 with my brother. He created the portal and we killed the cow king. do I still get my opportunity to create a cow level for nightmare (we recently killed baal in nightmare)? Basically I'm just asking since there were 2 of us, if we could do it twice. Not a big deal, because the drops suck so bad now.

A Diablo II question of my own

How should a lvl 30 Trapper Assassin take on Diablo? I can post my build if necessary.

                bring a sorceress

seriously, I have yet to play an assassin beyond level 7. But I had one team up with my amazon to help me take out diablo. He struggled as much as I did trying to hit diablo.

But you are level 30, so you should have a decent chance of hitting him for charge ups. Of course you are a trapper, so I'm not sure what you should do.

What traps are the best at killing Diablo?

                        Diablo's resists in normal are:
                        fire, lightning, cold: 33%
                        poison: 50%
                        blocking: 52%

So, I'd say anything not involving poison should be just as effective as anything else (not involving poison...).
