    Has anyone got this game?
If you like wargaming and an excellent AI, as well as a great scenario builder, this is the one for you.

Just enter Combat Mission in your search engine and you'll find a demo to download.

I'm getting addicted and wouldn't mind starting some email games with others...
The only drawback is that you have to buy it on the net...not in stores.

Super, a number of us have been huge fans of CM and have stated so in a number of posts here. BTW, I take exception to your comment that is 'unfortunately' only sold on the web. That, my friend, is one of the primary reasons CM is such a superb product. As clearly stated in their Manifesto, the cost of packaging, marketing and distribution would take resources away from creating the best product possible. In all, in 20+ years of playing computer games, I believe CM is the BEST quality game I've played.

Hmmm...I thought it might make it hard for some people (i.e. in foreign countries) to get, but maybe it is just the opposite?

Anyhow, it is a great game...wanna play an email battle or two?
I just got it, so I am not very adept at how you go about doing it...?
      Any takers?
A Quick Battle with agreed upon points, etc?

      C'mon, Steve....

        Hmmm,

I just got an e-mail that Battlefront has released an open beta patch for Combat Mission TCP/IP multiplay. That's interesting!

Please, some American fellow please send me a copy of Combat Mission!
I don't have a credit card, and no one with one will order a copy for me...

The better your sound setup the better this game will be.I like putting my "camera" on an enemy position and watch the offscreen artillery barrage decimate the position.

Its not the easiest weapon to use, but the flamethrower is very cool.I spend at least twice as much time "watching" as playing.
The only thing that matters to me in a MP game is getting a good ally.Nothing else is as important.......Xin Yu

              Smash,

That reminds me of my most memorable Combat Mission "war story". I had the camera set at ground level about 100 feet behind a house on a hill. There was an arty spotter inside the house, and, oops, my spotter was spotted by the enemy. They started lobbing 120mm shells at his position and the first one hit between the house and my camera position, not more than 20 feet away. Instantly the screen turns into a chaos of flying debris, and the sound is incredible!!! I literally jumped!

The positional sound in CM has always been one of it's more enjoyable features! It's so realistic you really get that "you are there" feeling.

There was a sound pack for the CM demo that I liked, it was done using samples from Saving Private Ryan. IMO it was better than the original CM demo sounds, which weren't sharp enough for my tastes.
Has the sound in the finished game been improved?

Jaako...hmmm...intriguing request...how do you propose to work this out?

JohnSJ- I will download the patch and play if you do! Or, we could play some email games?
Let me know...pm, ICQ, whatever...I think this would be a great internet game....I guess we'd both need any of the add ons? I haven't DL'd anything mod pack wise, but have thought of trying out some different sounds...?
Check out this page for links...some of the sites have some intriguing mods, they are just huge, though.... http://lindan.panzershark.com/cmlink.html

The key to CM is to be very conservative in movement...use real military tactics of leapfrogging, overfire, etc. Only move aggressively when delivering the death blow!
