      *hmmm, people aren't posting enough...*

So, what character do y'all play?

Mine is an half-elven Archer called Demwa (can anyone guess where I got the name from?).
His magic composite longbow together with magic arrows and Called Shot is the perfect wizard-killer, at least after Aerie or Jan has removed the offending creature's protections.
Demwa isn't too bad in HtH either, strength 19 and a longsword +3 take care of that.

Recently I've been wishing that my character were an Undead Hunter though, vampire slaying would be much easier that way. God I hate that level drain...

        We've been playing .

Actually, I haven't... too much school work

Anyway, I have a Paladin, with Plate +1. He has the Blade of Roses (+3) and Flail of the Ages(+3). He's at -4 AC right now, I think. Name? Jearon Lancey

playing as a sorcerer now. started as a ranger, dind't like him much. plus minsc is a bounty hunter, figured didn't need 2. I may try a half-orc barbarian with str 19, const 19 just to see how tough he is. I also want to try a kensai and a monk. and I still haven't tried dual class yet. I hear that's the way to go.

Ha, only munchkins double-class their characters.

Is the sorcerer any good? How does he choose his spells, and how ofter can he cast them?
I'm thinking of replaying the game as one.

There are too many creatures immune to ranged attacks in the game, IMO. Poor old Demwa is getting his butt kicked in HtH all the time.

BTW, if you use a sorcerer, make sure he's got an Int of 18, as there are no NPCs who can use 9th level spells, apart from the chaotic evil Edwin.
I found out after I had spent ~50,000gp on mage scrolls...

I like the sorcerer. For pure offensive power he kicks all ass. But the specialty mages will have a lot more variety. If you like to mix and max defensive and offensive spells a lot. He probably would be best. The max is 6 spells per spell level. And you have a limited amount you can choose. 5 level 1 spells is all you get. You don't have to worry about scrolls though. Unless you want them for a one time use. I'll see if this chart formats correctly. It's an update as the manual supposedly is wrong.

I have been playing a Monk and loving it. He is only level 12, but he is smacking pretty much everything around. Since he can't wear armor, you do have to be a bit careful. I just use the T formation with him at the tail end, so that when the fight starts, any spells (or first hits) hit someone else, and then my monk runs up and lays down the smack.

I am thinking of restarting though and using two created characters, my monk and a sorcerer or mage. Having them both in my party would give me lots of firepower, but I would be giving up an NPC slot. Not that big of a deal I think, since you can swap party members when you need to. Any thoughts?

Jaakko-- You will find some strategies there that make killing Firkraag the Dragon trivial. One example is setting traps around him, resting, setting more traps, resting, etc until you have a ton of traps and then initiating the battle with him. This is sorta cheesy, but there are many other ways to do it, including using a monks "quivering palm" to kill him with one shot!

Actually, I killed Firkraag a couple of days with my 14-15 level party without much hassle.
Insect plague followed by a barrage of resistance-lowering spells made it nearly defenseless against Minsc and Mazzy armed with dragon slaying weapons...

Right now I'm having trouble with adamantium golems (can't be bothered to get Crom Faeyr).

Well, I beat the game with my Cavalier (Paladin kit) about 2 weeks ago...

                      quote:

So, has anyone actually killed Firkraag the Dragon?
I tried with my 12-13 level party, and I couldn't even touch him. The damn thing just shrugged off all of my spells, stomped on the two fire elementals and a bunch of bears I summoned, then breathed half of my guys to death. Any survivor were wing-swatted (or whatever the attack's name is) to unconsciousness.

Not only Firkraag, but the one close to the end as well. It isn't that hard, just keep pummeling, and have a wand of resurrection for those that die.

I was looking at a Monk, then I realized my party would have probably ended up the same (main guy being a fighter and all), because he has to be Lawful something... My Cavalier party was Minsc, Jahiera, Mazzy, Aerie, and Jan at the end (with some help with Yoshimo, who I dropped when I got Valgyar, who I dropped when I got Mazzy - 5 Specialization with Bow, WOW!).

I picked a Swashbucker, a kind of thief that is VERY good fighting. I gave him two swords and let him wack. I picked him because then I could be Chaotic Neutral and make a somewhat evil party. I'm looking at having Korgan, Viconia, Edwin, Minsc (who's good), and Mazzy (who's good)/Imoen (when I get her again - in my first game I told her she couldn't join the party).

I finished the game with a Monk two days ago. I could have used by character from the first game, but she was only at level 6 when I ended it...

Anyway, my character was a true Dervish of Destruction at the end with no regular weapons doing any damage to him and immunity to nearly every possible ailment. Next time, I'll try with my Mage/Cleric from the first game (as he was already on level 8/8 after finishing Tales of the Sword Coast).

haven't played much lately. But insect plague just kicks ass. I was never big on clerics, but this spell makes up for all their sorry spells .

I just bought this game today, but I haven't played it yet since I discovered that I don't have directx on this computer

So I'm downloading that now, and then the fun begins

(I actually went out to buy CtP2, but as it wasn't there yet, I ended up with this )
