  • Simcity 3000 - Problem

I was just wondering if any one can help me with a problem I'm having with Simcity 3000. When I reach around the year 1950, and my city gets more complex, the game just totally freezes. Not even Alt, Shift, Delete can break it - all I can do is reset. I'm using Direct X 7, and my video card (2MB) drivers are certified. I've got 48 meg of Ram, and the processor is 300MHz. Although the system requirments do recommend a 4mb Video Card, I still don't think that would cause the severe lock up I'm experiencing.
    Does anyone have any advice?

It could be the video card but I think that your RAM might be overloaded.

I had the same problem playing StarFleet Command. After 2 missions the computer would freeze. When I upgraded my RAM to 64 MB (from 32MB) the problem was solved. But without upgrading (Although you should get a new video card) you can make sure to save the game often, and close any programs that sit in the Virtual Memory and RAM such as virus scanners, messaging sytems (ICQ, AIM, etc...), download monitors (getright, gozilla, etc...), although these programs aren't running, they are sitting in system memory and this could be causing your game to freeze.

    Hope this helps.
