  • Finding A Copy of Master of Magic

Other then trying to buy from non-descript guys on the Internet, is there any way I can find a copy of Master of Magic? I passed over my lass chance (that was 3 to 4 years ago) to get MOO2, and then, it vanished. If anyone can answer this and help me, thanks to them in advance. If now, I'll have to go back to blaming myself for not buying it then.

I know Lazlo, I got it there a week ago. Now, why don't we go over the the Hint thread and contiue that discussion before Andz/Streteegist was sent on a vacation?

You may know but others may not.

I just put this link here so if anyone is ever interested MoM he would know a good place where to start.

Master of Magic is just about the only old DOS game which works perfectly under Windows 98. Love it. I'm not very good at it, though. It actually has better AI than SMAC, which makes you wonder what has happened in the past 5 years.

The good thing about Home of the Underdogs (which I have been frequenting for some time now) is that they review every game and not just link them, and the fact that they've got so many games with manuals and stuff. The downside is that they don't allow you to use Download Accelerator. I usually look for games there before downloading them from another source. www.abandonkeep.com for example. Oh, and they don't keep the really famous old games. Which is sad, because they've got a good enough system to cover them too. Oh well, I guess I 'll have to use a combination of www.mobygames.com and search engines...

With a bit of tweaking command files, I have managed to get quite a few games to run under Windows 98. For example, Pirates!, the entire Ultima Collection, etc.

Pirates! worked okay on mine, but it crashed like every ten minutes. Any Ultima under 8 need to be slowed down severely to be at all playable on my machine. Colonialisation works, but without sound. Other games work with no music. Some need a dos-based mouse driver to work. Quite a few need DOS Mode. No, essentially it's only MoM, and a few trivial games like Liero and SkyRoads.
