I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Well since it's an old nick, I still get called it a bit, and I sign my PMs that way, I went out on a limb.

Yeah I'm in. But I think we need to tweek the rules abit. If not for this game then the next. Maybe like two orders per turn up to turn 5; so that you have a chance to accumulate some secret stuff: like 2 nukes fired and train spy; two nukes and rebuild bunker that sort of thing.

we ought to be able to name our nukes.

How about using spies for counter-espionage?

When making balance changes before I did consider adding defensive spies. In the end the core group voted for my other idea to make bunkers the counter to spies. I think it's balanced as it is, though if implemented correctly the defensive spies might be doable.

I don't really like the 2 orders plan though.

                    Spies used as counter-espionage:
                    2 orders per turn:

In again, of course. Cities: Red, Orange, Yellow

spies really did not come into play last game. I vote leave them as is, with bunker as the counter.

However, I would like to strengthen the deflect move such that every third nuke gets through and the first two are deflected. This helps balance the stockpile a bit.

                      Thoughts?

I think deflect is fine as is. Just one nuke getting through per 4 sent is going to mean more defensive games. Half is correct.

No 2 orders per turn, although possibly allowing each player to have 1 extra item at start might be interesting. (bunker, spy, stockpile).

If we allow counter-espionage then bunkers should be eliminated.
