  • Yet Other Thread of Have You Tried This Game?

I was just at a store, I forgot which one it was... Game Stop I think and I spotted this game Divine Divinity and it certainly looks interesting. Have anybody given this one a try yet?

It's pretty good. They should fire whoever named the game though.

Diablo was OK, it got pretty boring pretty fast. I don't know why, normally I would like a game like that, but for some reason, it just sucked.

Haven't tried Diablo yet because I didn't have a computer when it came out. Now it seems too old to buy - I have a limited free time so I have to be very selective.

Anyway looked up reviews for the Divine game and those were mixed but more on the positive side. One concern for me - some reviewers mentioned crashing problem with Window XP and crashing is a such turn off for me.

CGW game the game a pretty good review. But I do believe it is Diablo like. Diablo is pretty old, but Diablo2 is still fairly recent if you want to check it out. And D2 is still a good multiplayer game to play- multiplayer is free and fairly secure on battle.net.

It may be worth it, but I'm wary. they gave dungeon seige good reviews, but I wasn't impressed with it. Dungeon seige had unlimited arrows, and the game seemed geared towards teenagers or something. I don't like kid games . I didn't like things like unlimited arrows. Even Diablo had a limited number of arrows you could carry (although if you wanted to you could fill up your entire backpack with arrows)

Yeah I thought about getting Diablo 2 and the expansion.

Dungeon Seige looked cool but yeah I've heard some bad things about it.

Divine Divinity is a Diablo clone with more emphasis on quests involving people. Lots more interaction with people and quests which are acheived through peaceful means.

I rate it over the Diablos for that reason. Its a little more cerebral and less frenetic than the Diablos. You're exploring as the story unfolds, not just bashing monsters to gain levels and loot.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

and they are making a sequal to it.

The game may be worth checking out if you find it in a bargain bin. I haven't seen it in a bargain bin though. I'll probably pick it up if I do.

Game Stop had it but not in a bargain bin.

Last night I downloaded the demo - it took 5 hours?!

This morning I set it up and played. I start at around 9am and when I finally looked up to check the time, it was 1:30pm.

So you can guess, I enjoyed the game. There are flaws but nevertheless I had fun.

Diablos 2's just hack and slash without a storyline?

Divine Divinity (I really hate that title ha) remind me a lot of a shareware game I used to play - Exile. I believe that's the correct title anyway. IIRC it's for MacIntosh only. There was a similar version in which you could choose to play Romans or Celts in a fantasy world setting. Anybody know its title? And whether if there's a PC version?

Very crude by today's standards (it's a shareware after all!) but extremely fun.

Eureka! It just came to me! Nethergate.

There's a PC version indeed. You can find it here: http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/products.html

                              Exile games in there too.

                              Have anybody played those?
