  • An Alternate Mafia? Coup d'Etat

I was thinking of a more organized version of Mafia. Only with positions the give out special abilities and the what not. Sort of like "Political Mafia."

We could have players grouped in teams or "parties" and they try to get their team members in high positions while eliminating and trying to keep other teams from higher positions.

    Teams
All members belong to a team. Teams could be assigned by players joining or random assignment. Each team choose one of their members to be Party Leader. At the end of each Session the Party Leader pms the Game Administrator his team's target kill which is another player that the team tries to assasinate (like a Mafia kill.)

    Possible Positions:

High Minister: can do one of the following actions-
    1) Pardon someone who is incarcerated.
    2) Name one person under "Protective Custody" which keeps them safe from assasination attempts.

Attorney General: Can do one of the following actions:
    1) Incarcerate one player into prison.
    2) Place on person in "Protective Custody."

Commander of the State Police: Can do one of the following actions:
    1) Incarcerate one player into prison.
    2) Kill one player who is incarcerated.

Surgeon General: Can restore one Life Point to one player.

Party Leader: chosen by each Party.

I was toying with the idea of each player starting with 3 Life Points, so you would have to be the recepient of 3 successful hits to be dead and out of the game.

This is a work in progress, if anyone is interested please give me some feedback.

A kind of team Mafia... I like it.

Perhaps the word "mafia" needs to be dropped... The aim of the game would be for a team to have its leader elected President, I suppose, either by killing voters on the other teams, or promising not to kill other teams in return for votes???

The Surgeon General could give people life points back.

The Director of the Interior could delay the orders from any party or leader for a turn while the red tape is dealt with.

    It could be interesting.

Sounds promising. I'd definitely be interested.

I like Jamski's idea for the Surgeon General.

When someone is "in prison," what exactly would that entail for that person?

I was thinking they wouldn't be able to vote or hold any positions. If each player had one vote we could have everyone vote one player's name for one position. The position would be filled by whichever player got the most votes for that position.

Then teams would have to plan and coordinate their votes to win a specific position. Maybe have elections once a week and play 4-5 turns before the next election.

Sounds like it could be fun.

I'll probably be interested, once it's all thought through.

              That would work for me.

That could work, or he could simply eliminate one of the orders by losing it in endless paperwork.

Good idea, Mafia is a good game, but I have the feeling that there is something better in there. Maybe this is it. I'll join of course.

I think this is playable but we would need more players.
