  • Want to know, Is NWN worth my time/money

I'm looking for help here guys. I loved B1,2 but played them to death. Cant even look at the CD's anymore without feeling bored. IWD series was OK but 0 replayability. Still playing civ 3 but it's starting to get old. I'm looking for a new CRPG like BG but I've been scaning the forums and it doesn't seem like there's a whole new out there. What are your thoughts on NWN, will it scratch my itch?
If you don't know where you're going, how do you know you never got there?

I like NWN, but haven't played BG (actually, the only CRPGs I've played are Nethack and Diablo). One word of warning, the original campaign is a bit weak in the "plot" department. There's lots of fan-created modules, though, so you don't have to play the original campaign all the time.
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

My question really revolves around single player playability. I'd never have the time to dedicate to a multi player campaign, which was supposed to be the big selling point. Are you saying the MODs solve this problem?

        Time: definitely

Money: depends on how many games you can buy. THere are many better games out there (like Morrowind )

NWN really isn't that much like Baldur's Gate- except the fact it is D&D

NWN is 3rd edition, you only control one character. The graphics are 3Dish. The story isn't as in depth. The original campaigns are a bit bland. The tiles get bland after a while.

Yet I still like the game . go figure.

Some people are put off by the fact that it is not like Baldur's Gate, but I went in with an open mind. And for the most part I liked it.

Buy NWN, then download the Dungeons of Apolyton module.

Watch out for that orc chieftain though, he is mean.

The good thing about NWN is that it is practically infinite in its replayability. You can always download another module (not mod, module) to play through. Some of them are really fricking cool. Some of them are a bit amature... But there are literally thousands of them.

And then there's MP as well...

As for Diss's comment about the tiles all looking the same - many of the better modules come with new tiles, new monster models, new weapon models etc...

                    NWN is cool.

Especially with the expansion packs, which make the game really in-depth. I'd rank it as one of my better computer RPG experiences.

And yes, the replayability is nearly infinite.

NWN is cool. But playing as single player isn't the best experience. There are better single player games such as Baldur's Gate. And many people say Morrowind is a better single player game as well (I just couldn't get into morrowind).

I had a lot of fun with multiplayer. If you can find a good group to play with every week, you can have a lot of RP fun. Neverwinter Connections is a site to help you find other groups to play with.
