I lied, it was 1580 (but I didn't bother to close any other processes etc.)

Darn, I thought my specs were good .

Oh well, I will wait until 64bit is standard though before upgrading

After having the same problems both before and after a complete reformat, it's pretty obious that the problem is the card...

The problems is: It made 50% of my games unplayable... and TV-out sucked very much (Lower picture quality than the Geforce 3 card, just to mention one of the problems with the tv-out)

The advantage: ONE game got a higher frame-rate

I'm a little scared about the card I'm about to switch it to. In a test of this card they mentioned that this card's video-quality was finally (?) on the same level as Ati cards... this probably means the quality went down... WAY DOWN!!!

Now don't go all nutso . I'm sure that not all ATi cards are terrible, why else do they keep getting such good reviews? Another interesting read (couldn't tell if there was one superior brand), but Ananad tech is leaining toward Nvidia in their Q1 2004 overview. Anyways, I'm just rambling again.....

Matt........worth considering that our board will use RAM more efficiently if it's paired and you have a identical stick in slots 1 and 3.

Other than that it's amazing to see how much a difference the 9800Pro makes over the 9600Pro.

ADG: The card is fine, and you should look harder at what could cause the incompatibility.

After spending over 2 months of looking, I'm happy to have gotten rid of it...

Well strange stuff does happen, and it's a pig when it happens to you.

However, I'd still buy the 9700Pro or 9800Pro if it were me and I was looking for a card.

Hmm, not sure if the board's feature works with that setup. What does it say on the post screen about the RAM? You have to skip the logo screen if you still have it turned on.

I did 3dmark2001 on a laptop here. it's a pentium1200 (or 1400?) witha gef2 Go and I reckon 512 MB ram. Nothing special, don't even know the specs that well.

have 2337 on it. I'll do it again on my desktop later on when I have access to it .

That's interesting. My old machine, which was an Athlon 1.2Ghz (running slightly faster with a FSB overclock) and a moderate card got a rubbish score on 2001, something like 1500 I think.
