  • Any Pacific General veterans here?

Got it as abandonware, hope its not illegal

However, can someone answer me some questions?

What is the difference between the "repair" function and adding replacements?

Can planes only receive replacements when on an airfield hex? I know this is the case in most other games of the "General" series, but here in PacGen, you have also aircraft carriers. Any way to give replacements to the planes in the carrier's slots?

Is there perhaps a patch or so which let me play the game in higher resolution?

Not a single one? Even not the newer PGII? Hm, I can only recommend them. Older versions like Allied General or Pacific General look a bit ugly today, but are still good games....

To tell you the truth, I just can't remember. It seems as thought they had to be in airport. I can't even remember if they had carriers, but I have a vague picture that they did and they acted as airports.

Go to GoneGold and post there as they have players that go back to the General series.

            Thx will try that.

I also searched around and found a FAQ, but it deals more with strategic aspects....

              just checked.
You can repair Planes by landing them on the Carrier at the End of Round.
Next round you can doubleclick on the Plane inside the Carrier and the Option for Replacments is available.

That takes the whoel Round as u may have guessed

                beat me to it !

You have a greater risk of crashing when landing on a carrier at night - feel i should make some sort of contribution to the thread !

I do have the manual so feel free to ask away....

                  Well.
This Part I too have only vague ideas about:

Thanks for those answers. Much better when you can repair the planes on the carrier

If its like Pz Gen 1 then you can repair a unit up to size 10 in one go relatively cheaply if you start your turn on a carrier or adjacent to an airbase. After that you can increase it by 1 size point per turn for every experience star it has earned using replacements. Highly experienced and overstrength units can be deadly.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I recall Elite Reinforcements (Core Units) and Basic Reinforcements?

I'm having problems now with it, it crashes often back to the desktop. Seems it doesn't run well under Win2k (or XP). I probably will use Partition Magic to build a dual boot system with win95 or 98 (where it should run, according to many websites) for some older games.

However, if you could answer me just one more question: how do I easly identify what my core units are and what only auxilary units?
