The Mafia is the Mafia that's why we call the Mafia Mafia. You know?
But now if we kill some of those "quiet" ones right away, maybe then the Mafia will be killed, and none of us innocent villagers will be killed. Of course, if noone has been killed yet, then supposedly we don't know there is a Mafia to kill. Then, how can we kill the suspicious villagers, if we are not sure they would kill us if we don't kill them?

Nikolai makes a good point there. If we start the killing, we're no better than the Mafia.
But it'd be absolutely hilarious if we got the Mafia before he got any of us. The chances are, however, quite slim.
