Yeah - driving along at night with only two triangles of sight was a blast! When you were doing the night-time tracks for the first time it made sense to hang back a bit so that you had the advantage of the competitors' headlights too.
Mind you, I don't think that there were oil patches on the track in the night stages - that would have made things very difficult.

Woohoo... I didn't play this game much, so I didn't remember that you could pick something up from the ground... and didn't know the 'Owl' was behind this game also...
