  • Apolyton Railroad Tycoon 2 thread

So, I've been playing this cute little game, lately. And I must admit, I dig it immensly.

Wanna discuss? Got any great maps/scens? Anyone good at building scens? ( I completely suck)

Anyone want to play 1 on 1 via IP? We'll throw a couple of dumb**** AIs into the mix.

I like it too. For some reason quite a lot around here seems to dislike it. Don't know why.

If it could be complete, ala Transport Tycoon, it would kick ass so much, that it's hardly describeable.

I hate that game.. it's all about filling trains!
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Very often, it's on the contrary.

Never played the original Railroad Tycoon, but Transport Tycoon was way cool.

Nah. This one is more interesting.

Oh, and yeah, I liked TTDX a lot, as well. I wish it could have the grafix, and the more complicated economics of RRT, and yet still have the ships, cars, and airplanes....

I dont understand how to make money within the stock market in rr2, nor when I should by my own stock or other company stock. My trains always run too slow and I'm never sure if I should build a few big stations or a lot of small ones. There are too many things to keep an eye on for a real-time game in rr2. I prefer turn-based games like Civ3.

That's the beauty of it. If you want time, you can always pause the game.

There are also plenty of nice guides that explain what the hell's going on.

                      No way.

First of all, you cannot build tunnels. What the hell? Secondly, the stock market is idiotic, so you don't have to build anything to win. Thirdly, industries can disappear even if you are using them all the time, totally destroying your plans.

I can keep going on, but there's no point.

1.) Yeah, that's bad. But some of the tunnels in the old game could be quite unrealistic.
2.) In most of the scenarios you have to build to win. Besides, it's much more fun to build things than just winning for the sake of winning.
3.) Didn't that happen in the old game as well? In fact iirc, it was more of a problem back then. I can't remember that it has actually happened to me in RR2.

Yeah, never happened that Industries dissappeared when I used them. Esp. Since I own most of the industries I use.

Tunnels? Well, considering the fact that there are already enormous unrealistic water bridges, I think tunnels should be allowed only on maps with "high resolution".

                            1. True, but the solution is not to take out tunnels, but to make the contructions more realistic.

                            2. True too, my point though is the financial aspect dominates the game, which isn't good

                            3. Not when you own it.

That's why it's probably it never happened to me.
