vee4473 singleplayer is much worse in terms of cheating.

the SP enemies usually see through walls, know exactly where you are to throw a grenade, sometimes have near 100% accuracy
have more firepower than you have, don't need to reload, always have full health whereas you have to kill 10000 enemies with that health of yours, and a few healthpacks

just a few of the SP problems...

I like both though. Q3 is fun for like 20 mins, but because all those players have tweaked the game so much, and what with all the freaky shots like plasma-walljumps or rocketjumps or wicked strafejumps I really hate playing against experienced players..

I don't want to spend a week playingone of those jumpmaps to learn how to jump a little further.. plain boring really. Also the weapons suck hugely

I've tried it, but I got bored before I actually finished first level... Don't remember why though...

EDIT: Crosspost... this was a reply to FP
This space is empty... or is it?

Tweaking isn't a problem...........noone plays with the deafult cfg after they learn the game a little. Most end up using one of the many pro cfg's you can download.

Rocket and plasma Jumps have limited applicability, though strafe jumping is necessary to learn if you want to get better.

I used to tweak all that crap. Custom zoom levels, weapon order, etc.

What a mess. I kept that .cfg file just in case :| Never really used the plasma jumping, but rocket jumping makes a big differene.

Well that's the end of an era.

I am still to see a better FPS than Doom and Doom 2. I still play those often, at random levels.

Q2, I just happened to finish its SP yesterday. It's not standard shoot-em-up, it has some objectives and missions, so NOT like Doom get to the exist while killing everyone. Yet, it's hardly a mental challenge (duh), but some parts were fun.

I don't like the fact that Quake is all about MP too much... I don't have the reaction or reflexes to be in any competitive play. Quake 3 kept frustrating me with its controls (couldn't get used to vertical look) for quite some time .

It's funny, Solver, but I have had a similar response in a way. Doom 1 totally blew me away and Doom 2 made a small but good improvement. So, I played each to completion in SP once or twice and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Then I played a tiny bit of Unreal which was pretty wild as a virtual reality experience, but not as good a game.

Ever since then, I have been cured of FPS. I guess that Doom II was good enough and I haven't bothered to go back. I actually installed each of original Half Life and Quake, but couldn't maintain enough interest to master the controls, so I didn't play either for more than 1 hour.

WASD to move, when you see a bad guy point your mouse cursor at him and keep clicking until he's dead. What's to master?
