this is mostly a bump but i was wondering if you guys think ev nova is worth buying? how much gameplay does ev nova really have? it seems all the plugins are for mac and there isn't much more to do than run around ferrying/trading stuff. i haven't tried mining yet but i imagine there isn't much to it.

i almost didn't download it because of my modem(boo 26.4k!) but i'm happy i did. i too got stuck in the bureau missions and had to start over(what were they thinking)? however, now i backup my pilots and i've worked my way up to semi-tricked out ida frigate and am now going to try the polaris missions. the game is quite fun but i'm not sure what kind of staying power it has. it seems like there really won't be anything to do once you get a killer ship. what is there left to do once you have a formidable ship?

in the registered version do ships always go out of their way to blow up disabled ships before you can rob/board them? that really annoys me.

I got it, and like it.
The thing with boarding is, that your ships stop firing once the ship is disabled, but since the ammo has travel time, and small ship are disabled at very low defense levels, they usually die by the time all the ammo reached the target.

I found that the easiest ship to disable is the (Pirate) Enterprise.
Also, the frigate is probably one the best and cheapest ships to capture other ships with. It's also good for mining (Opals: mine in Formalhaut -> sell in Lotus), better manuever then the Asteroid miner, and if you slide sideways, it has a bigger "scoop area". takes some practice to do that right.

Once you do have a big ship, you can try subdueing planets
That's quite hard actually, i've had 6 Destroyers (3 rebel, 3 fed) all fully upgraded, and taking over the weakest planets took me about an hour. and then i was only fighting Frigate, Pegasii, Starbridges, Valkyries and Fed scout ships.
Bigger planets will send Carriers and Destroyers at you.

It's definitely worth at least a few weeks of play time, but i think that after you've finished the most interesting storylines, conquered a few planets, and flew all the ships you wanted there isn't much else to do...But it should at least keep you busy a few weeks if you want to try out all the different races and there ships/weapons.
<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

I thought that Ambrosia released a conversion utility so you can use Mac plugins on windows.

I can't say anything about buying it, seeing as I haven't yet .

i've blown up lots of big traders by accident with railguns myself but it seems certain factions go out of their way to kill dead hulks of a certain type. a good example being i'll kill a pirate then some fed ship who weren't in the fight will fire off a few shots to destroy it before i can board it.

cool, i'll have to try that now...

what are some of the easier planets to subdue? what are the benefits of subdueing?

this is probably a well known little trick but i find it useful to enter and exit a planet a few times to see all that is offered there. i used to just check once but i missed a lot of things that way.

Well, i only captured one planet, and am not really sure what the full benefits are..
Outbound is the one i was talking about in my posts.

You get a fixed amount of credits (tribute) from the planet per day.
There might be some extra benefits for owning a planet with a shipyard, i read something about putting your captured escorts for sale there, and get a bigger profit, but i haven't tried that out yet.

Btw, it doesn't really depends on the ship you have to try subdueing a planet, you can only try if your combat rating is Deadly or higher. But you will need a good ship to win against the planet.

I'm pretty sure they have as well.

Yes. Feds will always try to destroy ships of an enemy faction, like Aurorans or Pirates. Aurorans do the same to Fed or other houses' ships. The best way to avoid this is to do all your hunting in non-aligned space. Cirlce a Pirate planet and you should have plenty of targets to choose from. Just make sure you board them before the pirates do.

what are some of the easier planets to subdue?

The easiest planets to dominate are always the independent ones, like Outbound. Planets affiliated with a government always have larger squadrons of better ships. If you want a challenge, try dominating Earth. I managed to do it, but I lost six Polaris Raven escorts in the process...

i subdued outbound and kania with a kestral(this ship seemed by far the best of all i've tried) but it wasn't exactly challenging or fun once i figured out how to do it. basically i spent most of my time going in circles far away from the defenders waiting for either my shields, or energy to go up high enough so i could make a run and destory a few ships. the only time i died was the first time i tried it and was right next to the planet when all the defenders appeared. i think they unloaded like 10,000 missiles in a few seconds. the number of ships you need to kill is nuts. of course i probably am not the best pilot or very knowledgable about evnova in general so maybe there is a better way to do it.

if you have the unregistered version you can load these
saved pilots and try out all the best ships(or some of them anyways). i used the kestral from the polaris saved pilot in my battle of outbound, and kania.

The teaser plug for Starfleet Adventures has been released and if the teaser is any indication, the finished plug-in is going to be a right *****. The Klingons ****ed my ass up in seconds.
