    2) You're almost like the anti-Drake when it comes to Nintendo.

He's worse than I am. I don't really have anything against the Xbox; I just enjoy winding Glonkie up and watching him go.

If you owned an xbox you might. I had to replace my first one within a year of purchase and my new one is crawling downhill at a rapid pace. If only I had the money for a better PC...

Just what do you do to it?

If one box goes bad, you can chalk it up to bad luck, but if your second one goes bad, something is up...

First one completely fried. The second, current one is having trouble playing videos and recognizing disks. Not a major problem yet but this is how the problems started the last time. I'm just hoping it either holds together or crashes before my warranty runs out.

Do you keep it in direct sunlight or in a very dusty part of the room or something?

Do you urinate on it and/or throw it around when you die in a game?

I got mine Nov 15, 2001 and it's seen very heavy use, and the only problem I've had is my brother ****ed up one of the regular (bulky) controllers by spilling Coke all over it. It still works, the buttons just stick down sometimes. So I tossed it.

No problems at all with the console itself.

I'm pretty calm for the most part as far as physical violence on my gaming systems go. I've broken a few things before but they utterly deserved it, like that time I was almost at the end of Rygar on the Nintendo and my B/jump button didn't work while jumping through the air board . I had to replace that controller and help my dad patch the crack in the wall.

My xbox is on my entertainment center. I have lots of electronics and not alot of space to put it so it's a little cramped. The only thing I feel could be giving me problems is one of my stereo speakers which was next to it. I moved the speaker a couple of feet away to see if it'll help.

I have zero interest for City of Heroes, so I couldn't tell you.

The thing gets quite hot, the manual clearly says give it ample space around it to get fresh air.

Parts die far faster in high-heat environments.

Hm, they apparently love this Half-Life thing. What's so special in a game where you kill alien monsters? I thought we had seen zillions of those games by now.

"Oh, but the graphics...". Yeah, right.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

What's with these games where you take it in turns with the AI to build up an Empire? Don't we have enough of those already?

What's with these games where you play in real-time to collect resources, build bases and fight an opponent. Don't we have enough of those already?

What's with these games where you play the role of a single character, buy weapons and items, chat to NPC's, read lots of text, do quests and kill the big villain at the end? Don't we have enough of those already?

What's with these games where there are two people on screen who do nothing but attack each other with highly unrealistic special moves? Don't we have enough of those already?

What's with these games where you jump from platform to platform collecting bonuses, power-ups and jumping-on/shooting enemies? Don't we have enough of those already?

What's with these games where you play some sport against either the AI or your friend? Don't we have enough of those already?

What's with these games where you are in charge of some kind of business/railway/theme park and have to make it as commercially succesful as possible? Don't we have enough of those already?

Being one of the greatest games in a popular genre with many competing games is of course harder than excelling in a less popular genre. As for the graphics gibe (which will feature in my upcoming "spurious criticisms of sunday gamers" thread btw ) there were many games that tried to ignite the field in the way HL did, and many of those had great graphics (remember Unreal anyone?).

So bring on HL2, because HL was a true milestone.
