This is a survey to help work out if it's worthwhile developing a sequel to NationStates: a more sophisticated version that would offer new features and better gameplay, but require a monthly payment to play.
As it stands, NationStates is a pretty simple game. I wrote it as an interesting and amusing little site that a few thousand people might want to visit. Instead people have created over 200,000 nations and set up mind-boggling role-playing scenarios in the forum. I love it that this has happened, but the site is now too big and demanding for me to run properly. To handle all the questions, requests, complaints, cheats, griefers, technical problems and bugs, I really need a couple of full-time employees, and that's before thinking about adding new game features. So NationStates is going to stay like it is: simple, a bit buggy, but still fun.
A NationStates sequel, though, could develop the game's potential. I have a few ideas for how it might work (see my thoughts so far for details), and I think it would be cool. Now I want to see how many people agree.
Please take a minute to fill it out -- even if you're not interested in a NationStates sequel, there are a few general questions in there. Thanks for your time!
