  • UN Resolution up for voting: Secretary General

The following resolution is up for voting (although NationStates says the voting ended 2 days ago...):

Description: The UN should work as it does in the real world. We need an equivalent to Kofi Annan, who would be voted on by the Regional Delegates. The Secretary General would create Councils (Security Council, Human Rights Council, Environmental Council, Trade Council, etc.) Proposals would then go before the appropriate Council for consideration before passing to the Proposal list for consideration by Regional Delegates. This would weed out stupid proposals, while giving worthwhile proposals a chance to become Resolutions.

    Votes For: 762

    Votes Against: 309

    [Delegate Votes]

Voting Ends: Mon Feb 3 2003

Guardinia's position: Undecided [Vote For] [Vote Against]
How should we vote on this one?

    Prime Minister of Stubbornia:

"Our nation has long traditions of democracy [laughter in the audience, but it's soon silenced] and the goals of the recent UN resolution are commendable to our people, but it is an unanimous decision of Stubbornia to vote AGAINST the suggested policy. We do not believe that complicating international bureocracy will enhance the democratic rights of independent, small nations, but rather consolidate power in the hands of few. Considering that we won't be among those few, Stubbornia cannot accept it.

    Now bugger off!"

(Out of character: The resolutions are imaginary anyway, so they should be about things that are forced on the imagined countries, and not to the concrete game engine. It's like having an outstanding issue about the downtime of NationStates forum or something... Sheesh.)

      (OOC )

      What the hell... ?!?

Seems the damned thing blew through in record time, I just got a telegram saying the resolution was passed and is being implemented, blah, blah, etc.

NationStates now says the thing was implemented tomorrow...
This thing is way screwed up when it comes to dates and times...

I also received that same telegram, and when I went to check the last resolutions that were passed, I saw that the voting date would end in Feb 6th...
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

The UN is a joke. They have passed 6 resolutions since November.
