In that game, I have set most of the policies so that I don't have to pay attention to them. I buy stock at 2% above market price, I have most of the items my country uses each month on contract, and all I generally do each month is buy upgrades and settle/offer loans. Extremely bored after two weeks, quit playing after three. I'm not that into Role Play to begin with, but the limited options for dealing with your country and fact that your country's decisions don't mean diddly in the greater context doesn't help matters any.
