  • Remember to set vacation mode

I've been away for a while, soe yerstuday I checked NationStates, and with a big surprise I discovered that I forgot to set the vacation mode. I had 7 issues (I receive 2 per day) so I quickly decided for all of them.

despite the fact that the UN made my economy shrink from Strong to Reasonable, now that I'm checking again I became

From Inoffensive Centrist Democracy I'm a Left-Leaning College State
My Political went from Very Good to Average
My Tax rate went from 23% to 34%

This despite the fact I had no issue that involved either my political freedom neither my tax rates

maybe if you decide too many issue a time the people feel oppressed, and your state cash need more money to make all those legislation...

anyway.. when you go out, remember the vacation mode.

Tax rate changes depending on the strength of your economy. The weaker the economy, the higher the tax rate - so as to retain a fixed level of tax revenue to pay for the fixed level of government expenditure.

Most issues will probably have an effect on all three markers, to a varying degree. The fact that you had seven issues in one go probably just meant that you got a big cumulative effect.

i imagine that if the size of the government changes, the tax rate will change as well

I think that Sag is right. Every decision changes something in all levels of your government, so if you decide on a lot of issues all at once, the effects will be more pronounced.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.
