The Sovietskii Soyuz condemns the Commonwealth of Akiria for not only economic mis-management, but for airing racist television, limiting privately-owned corperations endorsing candidates, and becoming a backbender to the people instead of serving it. Therefore, the Sovietskii Soyuz will now discontinue its support for the Commonwealth of Akiria until the appropriate reforms are made.
I am saddened to hear that. However, I must defend my decisions. I will not see the civil rights of my people foundered by either quotas for ethnic minorities, or by subsidising the correct portrayal of ethnic minorities. I am saddened by the popularity of such a racist show, but it is not my place to ban it. While I do not allow hate speech, I do not see such a problem with politically incorrect comedy.
I will not allow my electorate to be bought into voting for candidates that do not wish the best for our nation, and have ulterior motives. Therefore, I will not allow corporations to dominate the political arena aswell, we must have a seperation of powers. Indeed, I do not wish to 'backbend' my people, i wish them to think for themselves, rather than be told what to think by a corporations. The media will also remain neutral in all political matters, and is not controlled by either corporations nor the government.

The Commonwealth of Akiria requests advisors from all nations on an issue. We have a tax rate of 24%, which rises for the wealthy. I did not feel this was too high, and I provide good services with it, but my people seem to. I have 3 choices:
Cut spending and subsidise business and therefore jobs,
Raise tax on the wealthy, cut it for the poor, or
Allow the public to choose where the money goes, more to education than business.
The 1st will ruin my public services, that help me promote equality, so I am warey of choosing that. the 2nd will promote equality, but might be going too far, I already have extra tax for the wealthy, and do not wish to stifle entrepreneurship. The 3rd will probably damage my economy even more, which is already weak. I can also dismiss it. I implore all nations to discuss the best option for the nation of Akiria.
My thanks to all who can help.

Several RL European nations have 50% income tax. And I wouldn't say those have weak economies. So 24% isn't much IMHO. Choose option two!
The 3rd will probably damage my economy even more, which is already weak.
Just ignore that. It simply reflects the political bias of the site founder. You should read a "weak" economy simply as a "moderate-left" economy with a medium-sized public sector. Nothing more, nothing less.

Chose the second option - equality of the people is important, and stifling entrepreneurship is something that should be encuraged, not shied away from! Don't let the wealthy corporations control your people.
I like that, and thank you. I still like the 3rd though, it'll give my people more of say, and let me keep my services. It's so hard to decide

Ben, was that necessary? We did away with single nation threads a long time ago, and that was quite some bump
Let's leave this, and all the other single nation threads, where they belong, at the bottom. Sadly, as we still have no mod, this cannot be locked (I do not really wish to PM Markos or Dan again, as I don't want to bother them again)

Funny? Going WOOO? Whatever floats your boat I guess. If you want funny, TKG is the man to look for. It's even evil humour, your kind IIRC

no, you're thinking of cedayon. i plan evil borehole schemes, but cedayon makes the complicated, often anti-akirian jokes about them, which usually involve some sort of visual aid
