  • A new Hope

As the morning fog lifted from beach the seemingly lifeless bodies laying on the sand began to shift. Life seemed to be breathed afresh into them.

Soon small groups were forming as families found their other members and gathered their possesions. Mothers begun changing their children to slighlty cleaner clothes whilst fathers gathered driftwood and built fires.

From up the beach came striding into view a tall man with a proud stride. He marched past many small groups before he climbed a small sand dune and looked out over the mass of people.

He held back his sadness for the people as he began to speak.

"My fellow Auldonians. Listen to me now as I speak to you. Today is the start of our new lives."

The mob slowly gathered at the base of the dune and many sat down to listen to the man they knew simply as 'The MAN'. He had led them here to safety and they trusted him.

"Friends gather round, first lets bow our heads in thanks for finding this place. Lets have a minutes silence to remember all those lost before us, those that gave their lives to get us our freedom"

All heads were bowed and complete silence fell.

"My fellow Auldonians, here we stand on the shores of our new home. Many wars have been fought and lost to get us here. Our job now is to prepare this place for the survivors and to get messages out into the world to advise the rest of our clans where we are and that we have found freedom from oppression , freedom from the tyranny of capitalism gone mad, freedom from mad scientists, freedom to raise our children in peace. "

He turned to smile at his wife and kids near him.

"We must remeber the past, but promise to move on into the future. This is the beginning of the New Nation, we are a new state, a Nation State. We will Incorporate all the lsot tribes here. Again Auldonia will be strong and free."

"My brothers and sisters, tonight we celebrate with our full vigour, for tomorrow we begin contruction of our new homes"

    time passes

The years went by and the Auldonians slowly arrived from around the world where they had been scattered. New citys were founded and the people irrigated the coutnry side and begun building new highways to connect their new citys.

A major port was built and the industrious people begun exporting their new products round the world. Delegations were sent to the neighbouring nations to get free trade agreements and soon imports of manufactured material meant that the Auldonians could build their own factories and industries.

THe population soon swelled to 5 million and the people florished.

So continued the history of the Incorporated States of New Auldonina

          Full Council Meeting

The dignatories gathered around the large oval table and flipped through the thick reports.

Counsellor Helen Samos was very pleased as the new Car Manifacturing Industry she had started was now flourishing. The Tax breaks given by the council had certainly helped her remain competitive.

Whilst the Incorporated States of New Auldonnia is a tiny, pleasant nation, it was already renowned for its compulsory military service. The youth of Auldonia were expectedto spend their first 6 years at home with their parents before spending the next 12 years in school. The followng 3 years were all spent in a branch of the military, before they could finally enter university.

The population of 6 million were all hard working and under council dorection were given civil rights the ency of many of their forefathers.

The populace of the nation state could spend their money however they liked and most were now importing the latest gadgets from Jonchastan.

The Council was formed democratically and all citizens from the age of thirteen up take part in free and open elections voluntarily.

The Council , which was of a medium size, devoted most of its attentions to Law & Order, this was mainly because some radicals had emmigrated with the mroe law abifding citizens so the polcie force was 2nd only in size to the military. The Council were presently debating whether to make the Police force simply another arm of the military.

The reports indicated that the current average income tax rate was 14% and this allowed most citizens to spend up big time.

THe tabled report also showed that the large private sector, led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing was blossoming well.

A small blight was the large Gambling Industry run by Councilor George Zerem.

After the meeting closed a large festival was held and much merriment occured

              Afternoon Session

After lunch the council debated the continuing problem with the numbers of Gerbils. They had been rapidly expanding and lately had begun entering peoples homes and looking for any orifice to climb into.

"The fact is, the gerbil population is out of control," says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson Beth Falopian. "We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have gerbil kebabs, gerbil pies, gerbil-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for our economy."

              This resolution was passed unamionously....

After this a three course dinner consisting of Honey Gerbil was served.
