My personal take on the large figures generated is that they would apply for a very 'average' force... that is, with no special advantages or disadvantages in training equipment, or anything like that. A nation that used a lower number than that generated could then justify having better-than-average training/equipment/whatever, while nations that felt they had too few troops could have more, while taking a hit to any or all of these variables.

I don't think calling it actual 'money' is a very good idea... too much would then depend on nit-picking over equipment prices, the cost of training, and so on. If we're going to go down that route, it would be best just to use it (as I suggested) as a general indication of your military's resources, which can then be allocated to specific areas.

I think the need for the calculator is definatly there. As Rasputin said it will stop the "My Army is bigger than your Army" debate.
I don't think the figure are too inflated. I did a bit of playing around today with some other NS countries figures and stats and it's fair to say you may have 3bil population, but if your main concern is Book Publishing then you military would be relitivly small.
On the other hand if you have Defence, Arms manufacturing and Automotive as priorities then your mil would be naturaly bigger per capita.
As for larger armyies being less technologicaly advanced, that's where IT should come into. Say if you had an Army of 8-12 mil and no IT then fair enough. But if you had IT as a priority then you should have the latest equipment.Attitude reflects Leadership!!!

what alot of people here are forgetting is that they are compaing these numbers gernerated to those of real life , but forgetting that no nation in the world has 3 bill population..
the calculator works its just that we have huge populations. the numberes generated are small comparitivly to the popualtions.
by placing in usa details i get close to their numbers. so they are fully equipped and ready without having to discount their numbers.
i agree with general tact here, if a nation wishes to reduce their numbers that their choose , these are just maximum numbers.
and dont forget that the numbers include the total military which is all support too. for a modern well equipped army that can amount to 50 % of the total , so a calculated figure of 4,000,000 for isntance is actually onyl 2,000,000 of front line troops.GM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71

What kinds of numbers are you getting when you try to input some RL nations? I think that would go a long way to easing some of my concerns about any military calculator.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~
