Everyone of working age in The United Good is an member of the Brethren. We are quite satisfied with our People's Paridise as it is. We do not have a traditional capitalist economy with Workers and Corperations.

How your governments define "workers" continues to amuse us - for instance will parents raising children as their job be limited to working with the children 40 hours per week - including on-call times ?!? ... or are they not considered as contributors to your economies...

There are times and situations that such rules cannot account for - harvest time in the agricultural sector as another example. These rules are meaningless to us; we will not abide by these rules.

We have always believed in the credo - "To each according to their needs; from each according to their ability."

Paliament suprisingly opted to vote for the resolution on the 40-hour week by just two votes. Members of the CI party (in Coalition with the Conservative government) plus some Conservative 'back-benchers' opted for a for vote, infuriating First Minister Morgan who stormed out of the chamber at the end of Parliaments' morning session.
It is believed ministers who voted against the government had voted in line with public opinion in their districts.

Minister Ceroo, leader of the CI Party commented: "If the resolution does require to be implemented it would not harm Cerooan business as much as feared- it may, indirectly help reduce unemployment, especially in the heavy-industrial areas on Isla Cynnon, like Newport. We are expecting employers to hire more staff rather that pay extortionate overtime rates".
He added that "business on Isla d'Ibia and the Apolyton mainland, do not come under the resolution's effect as they are subject to the laws of the San Antonio Bay council, which the UN regards as a seperate entity to Ceroo". It is expected that some companies may relocate to take advantage of this. When asked whether this UN resolution would cause the minimum-wage laws to be abolished, Minister Ceroo declined to comment on the governments' position, but stated that "the CI party supported the minimum wage when it was introduced under the last government and there is no change to that opinion at this time..."

In accordance with regional opinion a FOR vote has been registered with the UN.

(I will check in tomorrow just before cut-off in case there are any more votes...)

Hmmm... is labour law considered important enough in Ceroo that this will be treated as a non-confidence vote in the new government?
