Basus can be compared with the scandinavian countries. It has a democratic government. The title grand duchy is purely symbolic (a relic from the past). The nation has an average sized army. The defences of the country have been brought up to high tech standards. The rest of the army is more or less 70's and 80's equipment

Oh, and of course, we currently have a small number of very well trained regulars, but plenty of our people, including those under the occupation, are former professional military people. Our platforms include a small number of surviving hightech jets, and our vehicles are Ultra high-tech, but light, like Medium tanks ( think late soviet tanks, all computerized, and Bradley APCs, also featuring the latest, and some stuff that's not from the real world, like optic wiring ) , due to the heavy damage to manufacturing facilities around the country, and the raritty in resources. It's actually amazing that we retained manufacturing facilities for entire armored vehicles altogether.

OK, I'm back from my little weekend holiday and I've just finished skimming through all the stuff you guys have been up to while I was away. It's the middle of the night here now and I'm going to work in the morning, so I won't be responding much until tomorrow some time.
For future reference: Guardinia is very big in media (book publishing, movie making and information technology). The country is rich on gold and various minerals and is also big in manufacturing industries (making cars, toys, trucks, ships, aircraft, weapons, etc.) Still, the economy is not as good as it could be because the government has been pouring billions and billions into various humanitarion endeavours with little or no long term profits to the "investor". The Guardinian military is relatively small in numbers for a country of Guardinia's size, but well equipped and well trained - the idea being to get as much "bang for the buck" as possible. However, with the current state of the economy, Guardinia will have to dig very deep in their national money bag to cover their expenses related to the Azan crisis and their increased readyness on the border to Western Apolyton. There is already speculation about what the possible consequences of a prolonged crisis might be, with some sources saying that if this crisis lasts for more than another month or two, Guardinia will be forced to either stand down or call for aid...

My nation is like the good old USA, we were formed as a breakaway disputed territories many centuries ago and have used good governement control to support business wherever we can. Capitalism is rife on our islands. We have access to most resources we need on our newly aquired territory in Apolynesia and what we lack there we purchase from any nation willing to sell. We have a huge trade surplus as we have a huge manufacturing inductry taking the raw resources from our trading partners and then sellnig them back in their refined mode for increased profits.
We have a large modern military which uses all the latest scientific breakthrus to improve it self. All updated weopons are used in live firing.
Our involvment in far flung wars far from home is sometimes sceptically seen as a way of our government grabbing hold of some resource or other, but this is vehemently deneid.GM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71

Ok, discussion time....
Azazel-How did you want to reclaim Azan, diplomatically or militaristic-campaign style?
Of course, military campaign would be more interesting.....
More info on Frankychanland:
Everything is nationalized. While we do have products, they are all created by the State. This means that we DO have variation of products (ex, Shampoo in Strawberry scent, Juniper, etc) the proceeds all go to the State. Salary caps top off at $500,000. This means that any leftover capital gets poured into the State. But since everyone gets paid by the State, it doesn't really matter.
Military is mostly conscripted, but elite troops have extensive military training. Most people employed by the State are in security and policing. The rest are in other fields....(ala, the "lemonade" business ).Despot-(1a) : a ruler with absolute power and authority (1b) : a person exercising power tyrannically

Since we're all laying out our national strengths and weaknesses...
I consider Centralis to be a society very oriented towards specialization and doing things by co-operation; people tend to grow up working in networks, and as such become very good at it, but they tend not to do so well on their own.
(People in some jobs have to be good at it, and they learn to be, but they're the exceptions, not the rule)
The main military implication of this is that the Centralis military can be frighteningly efficient when fully co-ordinated - which, when the enemy doesn't go to great lengths to prevent it, is most of the time - but units tend not to do so well when cut off one another, and individual soldiers even less so. Special ops troops are better off in this regard, but even then, they don't work as well alone as someone from elsewhere might.
As for equipment, training, and so on - as you migh expect, given the above, communications, satellite imaging and recon, and other such technologies tend to be very sophisticated, to the point where the military largely relies on them. Weapons tend to be what you would expect from an early 21st century nation (perhaps a couple of years more advanced than the present day), while training is extensive but specialized; tank drivers are very good at diving tanks, but horrible at being infantry, etc. There is a certain amount of redundancy (everyone in a unit has some training in what everyone else does, although only very basic stuff), but outside the unit level, nobody is very experienced at doing stuff outside their role.

I think you should definitely keep Azan if you still want it. We'll get you back on your feet one way or the other."Politics is to say you are going to do one thing while you're actually planning to do someting else - and then you do neither."

I say if Lazerus doesn't post or PM something by tomorrow (forum time), we go ahead and roleplay without him.
That can mean either:
a) his Universal Soldiers turned tail and ran at the first sign of trouble or
b) Frankychan gets to roleplay their actions.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

..or the "four million-strong Hive army" was just FCL propaganda.
Whatever, we can roleplay our ways out of this if we have to.
I still think we should give Lazerus a little more time. But if he doesn't show, I say hand things over to Frankychan to explain away. He's more than up to the task roleplay-wise, and he's fair-minded enough to come up with a balanced solution.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~
