how the heck does Auldoninna manage to launch that many bombing raids when i've been shipping aircraft and tanks across into FCL on a massive scale for along time and they were on alert due to Basus upping the anty with the neutrals intentions to attack !??
Auldoninna is miles away from home and can't have that many fighters to escort the bombers in the immediate vicinty since at most they'll have a couple of carriers, they would have been shot to pieces as soon as they entered the airspace in such a militarized region!
I respect that Auldoninna is a major troublemaker in this scenario however they'd have nothing like the military presence of Hive/Ceroo+Guardinia/league of semi-neutrals in the region.

Unless you've posted something along the lines of a nooseland patrol finding the odd dead corpse how would you know about the atrocities ?
It was meant to be used later in the war, remember it was a secure link between two commanders and the area it occured in currently has 4mill+ soldiers poking around in that jungle, not something thats going to be easily discovered in the short term while theyre there

    • OOC: You are absolutely right about the magnitude of the Auldoninnan airstikes. It seems... implausible.

      • ooc again after some more reading :

I don't mind UR's observations, im open to suggestions about my troops. I'd agree the average soldier is thick as hell since hes just a genetically engineered muscle machine, however i'd be disappointed if every1 starts posting "a sniper shot the Hive officer and the entire unit ran out in the open and died"
I'd disagree with that my equipment is cheap and ineffective in small amounts, spending 40bill+ does not buy cheap equipment, especially when we've all agreed not to have ridiculously large amounts of people in the standing armies.
Because if this was the case i could point to Nooselands GDP and say that his country could barely afford to upkeep a military, never mind a highly trained state of the art one.

As for the secondary nation of Auldoninna in the form of Sally becoming an instant ally and staging ground for attacks, personally i'd urge against it, otherwise i could just ship High Heavens into a nearby land as a "friend" and then every1 body else would bring in their "friends" and things would degenerate into BANG the world ends.

        • ooc: My read on Rasputin's latest insane plot twist is that he launched from Western Apolyton and (maybe) the islands off Azan's west coast. I've dealt with the atrocities as unconfirmed rumours, but I'm sure Auldoninna would have left some agents on the ground in Azan. I think the way he's playing it is that FCL and Hive forces were spread thin (or as thinly as 4M soldiers can be spread) and distracted by Basus, Guardinia, etc., all of which are in to the south. The last thing they expected was an attack from the Northeast.

          • ooc: should we start a discussion thread for this game for all the ooc discussions ?
Why wouldnt i expect an attack from the north east ? I've completely denied anybody access to the waters in that area for along time and it would no doubt be buzzing with scans/aircraft to prevent enemy craft damaging incoming cargo

That's of course relative Considering that Noosland has a ridiculously small armed force for a country pushing 3 billion people, we spend our money on equipment and training for the soldiers.

We went through the economic model of NS numerous times in the good old days. We agreed that it's simple and flawed at the same time, we just disagreed on how to fix it.

                  IC:

General Hogan smiled, the Hive/FCL had now been awaken by his daring attacks during the night. At present they hasd not responded, no militasry action nor any political repsonse had been made.

Hogan was planning the next few waves of attacks with his air chief and his navy admiral.

The plan was to keep the enemy busy so the Azani and their new friends from neighbouring regions could make thier land war a success.

More and more supplies arrived every day.

The Missile bases on WesternApolyton would be fully functional by evening, any majr retaliotion from thr Hive would be met with similar ferocity.

He called the azani Freedom fighter to his side and smiled
"My friend today is the beginning of your peoples liberation"

"Thankyou General, I will continue to inform you of happenings from within azan, i am in contact with my village daily."

                    • Extract from N3 (News) Bulletin
...In response to the situation in Western Apolyton, the border checkpoints between Ceroo and Guardinia have been re-established, and the Opal Guard [ooc: most of Ceroo's ground forces are all named after stones] are patrolling the border once more. The government has informed citizens that a passport will now be required to enter the San Antonio Bay region for any citizen travelling by road, and that security checks on vehicles may be carried out, the rail links will be subject to the usual security proceedings, but passports will be required to be presented when disembarking. The First Minister has sent his regrets to Guardinian officials for having to re-establish border controls. It is also believed that the offer has been made for elements of the Diamond Guard to help bolster Guardinian border controls on their border with Western Apolyton. First Minister Cooper's successor, Minister Tote, hopeful of gaining vitory in tomorrow's elections, has been quoted as saying that the situation is 'only temporary, and in direct response to intelligence pointing at the increased threat of terrorist attack presented by the unstable nature of having Auldoninnan occupations nearby'.

                      Cerooan Third Fleet
The slick dreadnought INS Medway [the High Admiral's ship] approached from the south, and cut in front of the Ceroo-Guardinian fleet, eventually adopting a position between the INS Fable and the GNS Indiscriminate Justice.
It was rare for the High Admiral to be on the 'frontline' in such a serious situation. The bridge was a hubbub of activity, many communiqués were being sent back-and-fore between the Medway and the third fleet.
High Admiral Fitzpatrick looked over his notes. "Lieutenant Giles".
                      "Sir?"
"I want the Guardinan chief, Admiral Evans over for a briefing, and Commodore Ross too".
"Aye, sir". The young lieutenant scurried off to summon the fleet commanders.

Aboard the Fable, Commodore Ross gave a sigh of relief when he saw Medway pull alongside, 'Finally' he thought, 'we can get this show on the road...'
The rest of the bridge crew perked up too, the Medway was a truly awe-inspiring sight- and the fact that the High Admiral was here was uplifting, the thought that they may be going into battle soon didn't worry them, afterall they were Cerooan- part of the finest navy the world's ever seen [ooc: a little British arrogance when it comes to our navy ].

                      Later, aboard INS Medway
The High Admirals' briefing room was brightly lit, a large map of the Azan island hung on the wall. Commodore Ross was studying the movements of the Blue Star [the Cerooan sub previously sent to the area].
"Study it well, I have a feeling that's our next destination". Ross turned to see Admiral Evans standing behind him.
"Lee," Ross shook his hand, "I got a feeling you may be right, my friend".
Ross' hand slowly moved across the map towards a bright red star on the coastline.
"All those fjords... they could conceal any number of Hive vessels..." Evans pointed to the jagged coastline further north, "and the high cliffs would make them hard to detect".
Ross was about to reply, when in came the High Admiral.
"Sir" the Commodore saluted. Admiral Evans, with his knowledge of Cerooan maritime tradition gave the merchant's salute.
Fitzpatrick cracked a wry smile, "Gentlemen, I have new orders from INC and Guardinia Naval Command..."
                      -Sir T

Distributed by air-dropped pamphlet inside Azani territory held by FCL/Hive troops

We, the people of Azan, have asked the great nations of Frankychanland and the Hive to aid us in our struggle against the foreign nations and their poisonous influence.

For too long, we have suffered the indignation of being the lapdog of foreign barbarians. We have asked our kind and noble allies, Frankychanland and the Hive, to help aid us in our fight against those who would turn our mighty nation into a vassal state!

Some Azani dissidents who have much to lose if the foreign barbarians are expelled from our country have taken up arms against Azan's allies. They have, horribly, allied with the foreign nations.

Therefore, under the tutelage of Frankychanland and the Hive, Former Azan will begin to barcode all of it's citizens under the FCL/Hive territories to prevent further crime from occurring. Those rebels and dissidents who have been brainwashed in the so-called "Free Zone" will be responsible themselves to return to sovereign Azani territory to be barcoded.

A conversation between FCL/Hive and Azani diplomats took place recently. Azani police minister Dave Broadside was quoted as saying...

Police Minister Dave Broadside (said), "You know, it would be a lot easier to fight crime if we watched people all the time. Not with cameras, of course. That's clearly an invasion of privacy. But how about a national database of our citizens, coupled with compulsory ID cards and barcoding? It would stop crime dead in its tracks."
Frankychanland attache's agreed wholeheartedly with this proposal, using Frankychanland's example of barcoding it's citizens to reduce crime. FCL troops will begin rounding up citizens as soon as possible.

                          "What the hell happened?"

An aide, monitoring the military radio, reported....

"Sir, we have reports coming in that an Auldoninan air raid took place inside the FCL/Hive zone as well as Frankychanland sovereign soil."

General Frankychan yelled, "WHAAAT?! How dare they! I want our SAM's operational. I want our Anti-Aircraft guns activated. I WANT EVERYTHING FLYING INTO FCL AIRSPACE THAT'S NOT AUTHORIZED TO BESHOT DOWN!!!"

"Admiral on the bridge!" an ensign declared as Admiral Long walked into the command bridge. Everybody stood up and saluted smartly.

                              • On board the frigate JPS Voice of the People, off the coast of the Western Isles, Occupied Azan

Captain Mackenzie Qing tried not to fidget as he looked out at the lights of the port city. He didn't have the patience for this type of work, and he knew it. But that couldn't be helped now, so he waited, and kept scanning the shoreline for the signal, and hoped the general watching with him didn't notice how he kept adjusting his uniform.

"Any time now, folks..." he said under his breath.

"The ALA know what they're doing, Mac." answered General Abdullah Mafti, in calming voice, "They'll come through."

As if on cue, a light at the south end of the port began flickering on and off:

                                Intel correct. All clear. Go.
The general smiled, "That's us, Captain. We're on."

Captain Qing ordered the Voice in closer to provide cover for the Landing Craft launching from the convoy of transports behind them. That meant that only the Equality for All was in position to defend the transports should something go wrong, but it was too late to worry about that now.

It seemed to take forever for the LCUs to reach the shoreline, and even longer after that before they got the next All Clear signal. And then it was done.

Without firing a single shot, Free Azan had taken back the Western Isles, and Jonchastan had landed a full division of marines to aid in their defence.

Captain Qing smiled, and tried to relax.
