RSP Clear Winners in Delegate Elections
Economy, International Agenda Cited for National Congress Gains
Karl Ismali
Jonchastani Press
The Revolutionary Socialist Party were the clear winners in this month's Delegate Elections, gaining over 40% of the seats in the National Congress and 3 of 9 Central Committee positions. Their allies in the Democratic Communist Party and Chandler Island Socialist Party each gained a spot on the Central Committee, as did the Movement for a Free Azan, which pledged to continue their support for the RSP.
Most Analysts agree that the spike in support for the RSP is due primarily to Jonchastan's resurgent economy. The Revolutionary Socialists were helped also by the return to the fold of the Socialist-Feminist Caucus, which decided not to stand independently in Council Elections this month, and by the lack of Jonchastani casualties thus far in the Azan conflict.
Central Committee representation was also gained by the Anarcho-Communist League, the RSPs Autonomy Caucus, and the Peace and Freedom Party.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

Chandler Islanders Vote Overwhelmingly for Autonomy
Chandler Island Socialist Party Expected to Hold Majority in Regional Congress
Karl Ismali
Jonchastani Press
Over 72% of Chandler Islanders voted for autonomy earlier today, in a controversial referendum approved by last week by Jonchastan's National Congress of Neighbourhood and Workplace Council Delegates. Delegate elections will be held in the Chandler Island Councils next week for a Regional Council, which will convene in Port Chandler. The Chandler Island Socialist Party is expected to win a majority of the positions.
As part of the autonomy plan, Chandler Islanders will gain automatic representation on Jonchastan's Central Committee, as the ninth CC position will be elected solely by Delegates from Chandler Island. As the CISP currently holds a position on the Central Committee, no changes are likely to occur until after the next National Delegate Elections.
Chandler Island is seperated from Jonchastan by the oil-rich Jeongyeon Strait, and home to over 30 million people. Although historically part of Jonchastan, it was colonised in the early 1600s by the British, and gained its independence in 1952. In 1967 it was annexed by the Emirate of Jonchastan, and the guerrilla war that started there in the early 1970s played an important role in sparking Jonchastan's 1975 Socialist Revolution.

The Chandler Island Council for Local Arts and Culture will be holding a poetry reading of the works of Charles Mills, governor of the Serenity Bay colony on Chandler Island's rugged east coast, from 1638-44. Readings will be held nightly at 7pm at the Revolutionary People's Auditorium in downtown Port Chandler until next Thursday. Light refreshments will be provided.
Here is a sample of his work:
The Pleasant Life on Chandler Island
To the worshipfull Captaine John Hayes who did
wisely and worthily governe there divers yeeres.
The Aire in Chandler Island-land is wholesome, good;
The Fire, as sweet as any made of wood;
The Waters, very rich, both salt and fresh;
The Earth more rich, you know it is no lesse.
Where all are good, Fire, Earth, Water and Aire,

Delegate Elections Produce More Gains for the RSP, CISP
Chandler Island Socialist Party Wins Majority in First Regional Council
Farouk Anderson
Jonchastani Press
The Revolutionary Socialist Party increased its share of seats in the National Congress to over 47%, and its share of Central Committee positions to 4. The Democratic Communist Party also increased its share of Delegates, and retained its position on the CC. The Chandler Island Socialist Party also stays on in the CC, taking the position reserved for Chandler Island.
Support for the RSPs Autonomy Caucus continued its slide, dropping below the 5% mark. With the support of other, smaller parties, both they and the Anarcho-Communist League managed to retain their Central Committee Positions. The Movement for a Free Azan also retained its position on the CC.
In the first-ever Delegate Elections for the Regional Congress of the newly-formed Council Republic of Chandler Island, the CISP won a clear majority of Delegates and 5 of Chandler Island's 9 Regional Central Committee positions. The nationalist Union of Chandler Islanders gained 2 positions on the RCC, while the Democratic Communist Party and the Syndicalist Union gained a position each.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

The can receive as much funding as they want, but it doesn't help nearly as much as it would in a presidential/parliamentary horse-race system.
Council democracy is far more active and participatory. There are no election campaigns per se; delegates are elected from local councils in people's workplaces and neighbourhoods. Running an ad campaign, for example, might encourage some people to join a party, but it's just as likely to turn them off it.
Also, keep in mind that National Congress Delegates are elected monthly, and recall-able at any time.
Generally speaking, it's the pro-business fringe that receives outside funding, not that it helps them any. I have roleplayed rumours that the New Vancouver Tourist Association received funding from Auldoninna's Havana Party, but they are thus far unconfirmed.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

A Cerooan company has expressed a potential interest in CNEV, we will now refer them to the updated information brochure on the Jonchastani political system.
It is rumoured amongst the Cerooan business elite, that the government will actively encourage any Cerooan business wishing to invest into right-leaning Jonchastani parties, although there is absolutely no proof to back this up.-Sir T
