I think IT would be very important in determining how advanced your military is.

ive now added all the Industry types and will begin working on a breakdown of the total Armed Forces numbers into groups

          1. Support Numbers ( from 15-50% of total numbers)

          2. Airforce

          3. Navy

          4. Army

          5. Special Forces.

Just need a few more figures to get Real Life Battalion sizes etc then i can add some Options to the Calculator.

For example you will choose . Large Navy. (for island nations perhaps) etc etc....

Then i can use the fact if 'IT' is on your Industry list to make your forces more modern/advanced .

Any other ideas feel welcome to post and i will try to incorporate whatever i can,

Economy may decide how much the country is producing, tax rate determines how big the government's share is.

This calculator is coming along nicely. Almost a true representation of the Nations we play. Is this going to the the bench mark for Apolyton? I think we need a system that everyone goes by so there is no disputes on how big or advanced an army is.

Quite true, but out of that tax comes all the government spending it is hard to work out how mucheach nation spends on Education, Raods, infrastructure, military, welfare and other such things.

Till we can get agreement on what percentage of budget can be placed on military, i will refrain from using the tax rate...

Just to remind people, i have tryed to keep this as relaistic as possible by using real life coutnries numbers and within a margin of error it seems to work...

Actually, I think you might have missed an industry or two. I'm thinking of Soda Sales, which is one of my industries. Unless that counts as Retail or some such.

This is a very cool calculator. But create a new country and put the numbers into it. Im almost at 100 million now and Ceroo could wipe me out by sneezing.

Basically adopting this will ensure that new players cant participate in military threads. Which means that as players drop out they wont be replaced until eventually there will be only one. Which is good in a highlander game, but we need to tweak the numbers so that the largest military superpowers arent much more than 10-1 against new nations. That might not be 'realistic' but if you want a fun game for everyone its almost a neccessity.

I would also point out that FCL would be militarily eradicated the moment we adopted this calculator as thier army isnt even a match for mine.

well, sadly, that's how it is in real life.

the small nations just can't compete.

however, if you militarize yourselves, then you might be able to

and if the point-buy system is enabled and tanks, airplanes, etc. are broken down- then nations can specialize

I think after a certain point, nation size shouldn't have an impact on military size. There has to be a way to reflect diminishing returns, or any calculator is useless, except as an attempt to justify god-modding.

This does not make any logical sense at all. Diminshing returns only occur in some situations, where the marginal cost increase at a certain point due to some constraints. This does not seem to apply here.
