  • Ceroo expands onto the mainland?

//note, the first four posts of this thread happend a long time ago, and it got sort of abandoned- this is an update on the situation of sorts...

1 day ago: The Dominion of Tea Kaygia ceased to exist.
    First Minister Press Release
The Cerooan government expresses deep sorrow at the dissolution of one of our ally's governments. The capital was practically deserted when the Cerooan delegacy arrived on what they thought was another routine state visit. Further out, rumours are traded about what has actually happened to the government, with a theory that 'certain large corporations' from other nations pursued a plot to oust the anti-business government which is now in hiding somewhere in Guardinia, San Antonio Bay, Method or Alecrast- depending on who you believe.
As Tea Kaygia is so close to Ceroo, the government decided that it would be best to maintain a presence in the area, for the protection of both the Cerooan people, and the peoples who remain in the area. The Cerooan Navy has landed on the coast and the marines have set up a small base of operations. There have been some people who welcome the presence of Ceroo on the coastal areas, but overall the people are too concerned with trying to re-establish local government. We have remained completely out of this process as we have not been asked to intervene. We will remain in the area until the government is restored or the people ask us to leave.
    End Message

However, an independant news website expressed some concern...
Ceroo in Tea Kaygia: Protectors or Invaders?
    Espen Berg Reports:
It was suprising how quickly Ceroo responded to the collapse of the nation, they were here within hours.
Where we are staying the rumours are that the government has fled the country, because of threats made by certain shadowy figures who lead the underground pro-business movement building in the poorer areas of the nation.
While there was clear evidence that the majority of people have some support for Ceroo in protecting the area, the First Minister neglegted to mention that there were a couple of protests too. It also omits the fact that the Cerooan navy refused to let a passenger vessel, which I beleive to be from Alecrast (a nation Ceroo supposedly has friendly relations with), dock at the port, and turned it back. I was unable to get an explanation for this.
I spoke with some of the Cerooan marines and they were talking like they planned on being here for a long time. We are driving through the mountains with a Cerooan televison news team later today to investigate reports that the Cerooans are taking control of facilities such as airbases.

    I see
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

      GNN Headline News

Guardinian authorities refused to comment on the rumors that the former Tea Kaygia government is now in Guardinia, but said that our nation's borders are open to anyone in need of protection from unjust persecution.

Authorities also refused to comment unconfirmed reports that Guardinian naval forces were being diverted from routine exercises and sent closer to Tea Kaygian coastal waters. In general, the Guardinian government has been suspiciously quiet so far about the situation in Tea Kaygia and the Cerooan intervention. However, analysts we have spoken to have all indicated that Ceroo, being one of Guardinia's closest allies, will probably get all the support they need - and might in fact already be getting it, although no formal announcements have been made to this point.

More information to follow as soon as it becomes available.

Night time, off the coast of Tea Kaygia

Several huge dark shapes where gliding in from the ocean, approaching the coastline.
There was no light, no transmissions, and hardly any sound. To an untrained observer, it was virtually impossible to determine the identity of the newcomers, although a skilled radar or sonar operator - or a visual observer with detailed knowledge of various ship designs - might identify some of them by assessing their shapes and sounds.

The newcomers stopped and took up stations off the border of what had used to be Tea Kaygian territorial waters. They also appeared quite careful about keeping respectful distance to the Cerooan ships already in the area.

The silence was broken a few times by unidentified aircraft passing overhead, apparently patrolling the coastline while also staying clear of any Cerooan forces.

First light was still a couple of hours away...

Segment from a CBC News programme
News networks from several nations have questions Ceroo's motives in the area formerly occupied by Tea Kaygia, and that the Cerooan Assembly government may be trying to take the initiative in the inevitable 'land-grab' that is likely to occur now that no formal government exists. The First Minister released a statement earlier today, briefly mentioning that Cerooan forces had moved into the area for the protection of the Cerooan people and the people who still live in the area, but did not say from who- is there a specific threat to our nation that the government is not telling us? It is also believed that one small provinces on the coast is planning to declare it's independance, and rumour has it that the Ceroo is there to help them achieve this- in exchange for control of certain areas of the coast, which would most likely be used for civilian colonies, overcrowding in Ceroo has reached record levels...

        Deep inside Tea Kaygia

With increasing frequency, aircraft were flying overhead, low and fast. Still too dark to make out who they belonged to, they were not from Ceroo, or if they were they were not supposed to be in the area; An air of uncertainty began to sweep through the ranks of the Cerooan Marines, who were still trudging on through the mountains towards their destination. Were these aircraft monitoring them? Did they know where they were heading? And if so, were they already there?

          Several months later...

The goverrnment of Tea Kaygia never revealed itself- it is now widely accepted that members were killed in a coup d'etat. The area formely known as Tea Kaygia is now governed by seperate local councils. Areas on the coast, in the south eastern sector are 'governed' directly by the Cerooan Viceroy- Roy Sadler. However, the viceroy has little involvement in local politics, leaving that to the councils. Ceroo has established a naval base in the south east sector, close to Port Bircham. A section of the Cerooan 2nd fleet protect the port and routinely patrol the costal areas. The INS Endeavour, the flagship Dreadnought, is due to arrive at the Bircham Base in the next 48 hours.
Further inland, the councils seem to fall under the control of an organisation known as the 'Free Market Group', who have used the opportunity to profiteer now that the anti-capitalist government has fallen.
It seems whatever Ceroo had come for high in the mountains it had got, as the transport ships had long returned to Cerooan waters.

          Aboard INS Endeavour
Admiral Walters was looking forward to returning to Ceroo City, one final stop at Bircham Base beforehand.
There had been little activity across this sea recently, some pirates operating off of Sheepsta island, but they had the sense to stay well clear of the most advanced warship in the area. It was very early in the morning, though not long until first light. The admiral was eagerly looking out of the bridge window, once they rounded Alecrast they would be able to see the lights of Ceroo in the far distance and would be only hours from Bircham Base. One last routine mission before going home...

            Update on Guardinian activities

Several months ago, shortly after the Cerooan intervention began, Guardinian forces sort of sneaked into the area under cover of darkness. The next morning, they identified themselves to the Cerooans, shortly before Guardinia officially announced their military presence in the area. The official statement said that Guardinian forces were acting in support of an ally and to help secure stability in the region. However, there was some speculation in the media concerning the possibility of Guardinia having its' own agenda, or at the very least wanting to maintain some level of control in its' own backyard.

Guardinian officials did secretly contact the Cerooan government and more or less demand to know what Ceroo's intentions were. The Cerooans on the other hand are believed to have asked similar questions in return, but to this date it is not known to the general public what the two governments actually told each other and/or agreed upon.

Guardinian forces remained in the area for several weeks, but appear to have been playing a relatively minor role in the intervention. Eventually, they pulled back, leaving the stage to the Cerooans and the various local councils. Guardinian naval and air forces continue to patrol the area from time to time, but nothing big is going on at the moment...
