  • Elections to be held in Marijuania

Following preliminary rebuilding by the revolutionary government, that regime is to step down and the nation will hold elections to determine the new government, following the incident with Athkala and Method.

Likely hot topics will no doubt include the Mill Limit (http://www.geocities.com/dream_of_the_prophecy/mill.htm), the recent crime problem, the economy, and most importantly, the military. Independent observers predict that a more militaristic, but Mill Limit government will likely result of these elections.

The parties standing, and their agendas are as follows:

The green party (previous government before revolution). Staunchly pacifist, with no military. Anti capitalist libertarians.

The libertarian socialists (the favourites). Capitalist, up to the Mill Limit, aim to build a strong military, a better health system, and to build upon the education system. Staunch libertarians and pacifists, but prepared to meet fire with fire. Want to build up the space programme, to turn Marijuania into the regions leader.

The Revolutionary council... communists, took over from the green party when Athkala and Method declared war. Links to the criminal underground. Pro-war, desires revenge against Athkala and Method, anti-capitalist. Non Mill Limit.

The Chaoticists... (no hopers) desire no rules, no laws, no institutions, no nation and no impedence of any kind. Non Mill Limit, but gives rights beyond the Mill Limit.

    Results will be published shortly.

So the Green party are anti-capitalist, but the socialists aren't

Needless to say, as in most elections, Akiria and Zetaris strongly support the Green Party, and will help them in any legal way they desire.

The libertarian socialists are very similar to the greens except for the military. The libertarian socialist party is a purer form of the Mill Limit, which allows capitalism. The key word is "LIBERTARIAN", which when applied to socialism, allows capitalism up to the Mill Limit.

The results for Stanleystan are through...

The former ruling Green party have suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of the Libertarian Socialists - a good day for the Mill Limit.

Exit polls for Marijuania show a similar, if less pronounced, trend among voters.

The Alecrast Cyphers are pleased to see their brothers in Libertarian and Mill Limit ideologies emerge victorious in these elections, and hope that this might herald an era of closer relations between our two nations.

We would like to announce the results of the main elections in Marijuania:

As predicted, the Libertarian Socialists won by a clear majority, with the green party forming an opposition, with 22% of the votes. The Revolutionary Council received 10% of the votes, while the remaining parties got 3% combined. So with 65% of the votes, the Libertarian Socialists have it!

They will now embark on a programme of military and police rebuilding, expanding on the preliminary work done by the Revolutionary Council. The Mill Limit will be further enhanced, by removing some laws inhibiting capitalism. The environment will be very well protected, though not religiously.

Marijuania and her new government welcomes the statement from Alecrast, and concurs that we also desire further close relations.

After our nation has stabilised a little, we will offer a treaty of friendship between Marijuania and Alecrast, and sends forth much weed as a gift!

A good thing that weed, and other recreational drugs, are legal in Alecrast. (Though with a nice Sales Tax placed upon them in addition to the VAT. ^^; )

Would Marijuania perhaps be interested in joining the Marmo agreement?

But of course! Weed is a great source of revenue for the government! If you are interested in more of Marijuania's marijuana, then we can sell you some of our finest gear at a low price, just for you!

We would most certainly like to join the Marmo agreement and agree to the terms of that agreement (though with regards to tariffs, we already comply). I shall post on that thread.
