Why is it that the thread in this particular forums seem to disappear? There were more he yesterday and I was lurking on another that is gone.

Because they're older than the forum is specified to show. Near the bottom of the screen you can specify how far back you want the forum to show threads. -
Oh yeah, I'm an idiot.
