I just re-read it

It was, a long time ago. I remember my predictions on mailing list and meetings, that we will have it done in a month. I was a little bit too optimistic
But anway, we are still here and going.

It took several seconds to realize what you meant by that Sizif. It's annoying that people in different countries write the famous ancient names differently. Here, and also in Greece, i think, Sizif is Sisufos. Well, in Greece of course with their own letters. By the way, I have been in Greece on a vacation two years ago. Kinda nice place.

I think the weirdest thing is, what happened to that guy Tokolosh. He came, joined and made the GGS (OSC) thread all in the same day. And then never posted again! He only made that one post!

To me he has almost become a mythical or god like character. I can't stop wondering whether he is in fact Brian Reynolds or something, who wanted to start a new generation of gaming after him quiting Firaxis.

We will propably never know. And maybe it should stay that way.

Hey, have you noticed that the first anniversary of GGS project is drawing near? The original thread by Tokolosh was created in the beginning of March 2000; I couldn't find the original thread anymore, is it removed? Well, its number was 1194. 1191 was created March 3rd, and 1198 March 8th. So it's somewhere between those dates. I think it was 3rd, 4th or 5th day, but can't be sure... But well, we have got quite far in one year in my opinion.

hehe here is a wacky idea to pay some homage to Tokolosh and his place in the GGS timeline

i think that we should have a random event where a mysterious unit called a Tokolosh appears and has random unpredictable (but generally good) effects on the game...effects that wouldn't appear otherwise...Tokolosh would then disappear and would not reappear in that game...this should be rare, like maybe once in 150 games...

hmmm maybe we should have a GGS birthday party where we promote the game some...anyone wanna write an announcement that mark or dan could put up?

and if mark and dan would cooperate i have an idea of a little GGS contest we could hold...we could open a thread that invited some kind of participation from non GGS members (possibly we could ask for a promo GGS image from the artist out there or perhaps the funny GGS voice message) and we could choose a winner who would get the temporary title of GGS Birthday Boy or GGS Birthday Girl

so does a GGS Birthday contest thread sound good? we might as well be blantent in trying to get a little traffic you know?

Sounds like fun! Thunit is still a long time further, but I like the idea of writing a story for Apolyton. Make a story of the beginning of the game, what we went through, what big disicions we made and where we are now. Who want to write it? I personally thinging of making a GGS timeline (graphical) with major event in it...

Heh, it was a good time too. We had ups and downs. We had bright days and dark nights. But it is time now to take another step. It is time to boldly go where no man has gone before - to seek, search and explore new territories, to improve Karma and find Nirvana. Turn based tetris, anyone?

Just kidding of course, we should stick with whatever it is we are doing now . And looking from this perspective, my former estimate about being done in a month was a bit exaggerated, definately.

It's weird that we have been going on for a whole year now. Although it seems to me as if we have been going on for ages. I can't even remember what I did online before GGS.

I think Korn's ideas are really cool. And I agree that we must pay some kind of homage to Tokolosh. He is a legend.
