  • Should we read The List for OC3?

I was just wondering, if it might be beneficial to our game if we actually went through all of the ~400 pages that is The List, and try to use many of these ideas in OC3.

After all, we are trying to develop the civ game as the civ community wants it to be - therefor we should listen to them.

Of cause we will not be able to implement all the ideas, and many of our ideas for the game are indeed more revolutionary than those found in The List. But I am sure that there are loads of great ideas in there that could make our game much better.

If we are to do it, however, we must coordinate our reading, figure out who is to read what and so on. And then we must make sure to take all the good ideas and present them to each other, and leave all the poor ones alone.

I think we should read it... will someone read my combat section? (I've posted it several times now, and I still get newbies suggesting things found therein as if they were their ideas.)

Shouldn't you read the combat section yourself? You are obviously the one in our time with most skills in the combat area, so it would be great if you could try to figure out what in the combat section is good, and what is not.

I would like to read through the Economy section.

Besides this I think that we should definately use Harel's diplomacy list as basics for the diplomacy in our game. It is really great.

I agree the list should be used. I can read map, tech and build. And Victor, I will comment the combat text, I'm just buried with other tasks right now.

-I suppose I could read it, but then again, I wrote it , so that would not do that much good, eh?

I'm not trying to pressure anyone to read it right now, but I would like some comments, soon... or as soon as people have time.

I will now read the economy part of The List, and see if there's anything in there that I can use for my economy model.

I will bring a useful resume here when I'm done.
