  • Openciv 3 - Diplomacy

Might as well start some discussion -
I think that I should start discussing by posting
    a few random things:
I am willing to do the Diplomacy model if need be:
    1. Forming Sentences
    As someone suggested (Guildmaster?)
    [quote]
Why don't we have a word makeup thingy for diplomacy? Like adlib? You begin diplomacy with a
series of buttons you use to form a sentance, and would go from word to word until finished
statements are made. First you have the choices "I beg, I request, I demand, F... You, I will"
and second would be a listing of "That you do the following, that you do not do the following"
and follow that with another series of options followed again by another option list etc etc.
This way you can make your own demands to the computer..."I demand-That you do the
    following-Attack-The Soviets" "I beg-That you do the following-Make peace with-Me""I
    demand-That you do the following-surrender to-Me-No conditions no terms""I request-that you
    do not do the following-trade with-the mayans-city of-Palenque""I demand-a formal apology
    for-the battle of-Crete"

Yes, this is excatly what is needed. This could be expaned to do anything, like you apoligisng.
    2. Greatly expanded range of options
"I'll give you Rome and Milan for Spain and 100 gold bullions". Wouldn't it be great to be able
to say that, and neogatiate with the AI. And imagine that with the word builder....
    3. More options when going to war
Options when being asked of joining a war. i.e. "give me x turns to prepare"
    4. Negotiate loans and interest.
    5. Border negotiations
"I'll offer peace if you give me the Gaza strip". As ffar as I am concerned each section of land
should have a name, so you can do trade's like this.
    6. Planetary council like in SMAC.
Okay, this is a must. But what would we like to do. I propse that it shouldn't come in until
someone builds the United Nations. there is just one glaring problem with this - If that is in
1932, than the game is almost over....
    BORDERS
    1. Should border's be based on cities entirly? Or should they be based on cities, and who
    'discovers' the land first.

Also sending a unit over a border should not instantly be spotted. I think that if you have a
certain building, than you have a % you can spend on that to man it, that would be like having
a manned border. Perhaps in the modern day, you can have 'radar' and units can't get in

Alright that's it for now, I'm going to a party.....
Working...
