    This by hendrix the great

I was just thinking and I wondered whether it wouldn't be a great idea to have a "world map" so to say in which there is active plate tectonics at work. Afterall the age of Dinosaurs was a few hundred million years long and a lot changed in that time including the look of the planet.
Furthermore, this would have a profound effect on the climate, the flow of rivers, the shape of oceans and continents and so on.
If the game is to deal with evolution such factors would have to be taken into account.
Also the changing orbit of a planet around its sun would have to be paid attention to because that has quite an effect over time(I'm talking 100.000 to millions of years).

Not just the dinosaurs would evolve also the environment would change and new plants and animals would replace others.

So, what do you people think about this?

I think that this is an excellent idea. The map engine should be one of the main things that firaxis spends there time on. A dynamic map would add a whole new level of gameplay and would be something unseen before...plus could you imagine the graphic possibiltys?

One could also add vulcanos, fluds and the such. Then you could see whether your tribe/herd is succesful at adapting to new environments.
Furthermore, a meteor strike would be a very serious test to ones survival skills.

    more good ideas

And think how the SMAC map could implement all that perfectly. By raising/lowering terrain, and such you can have continental drift, mountain formation when continents collide, new islands and volcanoes (remember the SMAC random event where a new volcano pops up!!) and all the rest.
Working...
