Well probably, seeing the ecological system in SMAC, I dont think Firaxis would have any probs dealing with this.

My opinion is a resounding I'm afraid NOT

My hints by last diary (someone else as Imran think different, so take this with a grain of salt) is that Dino's will be on a regional level, no global world at all.

Firaxis tell to us that the environment will adapt and react to our dino herd, but speak about tree leaf, and I really can't see as a detail as it can fit into a world vision.

Also the amount of dinos that will fill the herd appears to be small, not enough to explore a whole world.

You know, maybe we should have a bunch of dinosaur smiley faces for this part of Apolyton. The T-rex could be a green, scaled version of !

Did you know that there is an Albertosaurous? I do! You see, Alberta was a popular place for dinosaurs. I think it was before all the oil workers came around and wrecked all of their favourite dino-forum gathering places.

At that time, Alberta was sub-tropical, because, back then, the continents were in different spots... But aaaah! I digress!

By the way Slingshot, did you know the "Ptherosaurus" (or how the hell you write it - it's the dino that looks like a big bird, there's a wireframe of it in one of the diaries) is also know as "Cearasauros", because it was common in the Brazilian state of Ceará?

And yeah, I've heard of the Albertasaurus. Wouldn't want to run into one, though. Good thing for Slingshot they're extinct. By the way, did you know that (at least in the U.S) the time from about 325 to 286 million years ago is called the Pennsylvanian Period?

Well, it sounds as though all of the great states/provinces in the world have some kind of dinosaur reference.

Even if the Albertasaurous was not extinct, I think they would have evolved into something more migratory. One week ago, most of the snow had melted, then BAM! We get 15cm almost overnight. Yesterday, I saw a guy cross-country skiing along a city street!

You brought up another good point: migration

Obviously, places like Canada have a lot of food in the summer. Many animals could migrate to capitalize on such a food source. Up there they would lay eggs and multiply in an environment that might have less competition.

Birds return to the same locale every year, to lay eggs. The same stupid ducks return to my house, which had a pond 10 years ago but has been removed to make way for my neighbor's house. Yet they still come and we put a small wading pool for them. Any way back to my point, maybe dinosaurs who supposedly evolved into birds, also return to the same ground every year.
