I think that the people at firaxis would be sitting back and laughing at all of us puzzling over what the hell those banners are supposed to mean.

By the way, if they are upgrading SMAC, are they just going to refit it so your save games can be carried over or are they going to redo it and make SMAC2?

        I think it will be a SMAC2.

But I'm also strongly thinking that Civ3 won't stop at the launch but will stop at the end of SMACS ending.
That's how long I think it will be.
And it would be the easier for them to do it that way than make two seperate games and then link them. Though.... they'd make more money out of it - dunno.

And I was wondering the same thing... I bet Sid is laughing.

Can anyone think of a GOOD dinosaur game? (beside the shoot-the-dino-crap games)

Other than as a curiosity I can't fathom a use for any Saurian let alone in a Sid M game. He specializes in strategy games. What took 65 million years- Dino's disappeared about that long ago. The ultimate War game- naw- I think this might be a lead in to Civ III, but not as an add-on, rather as a Space based game. We are after all, despite NASA, on the verge of moving on out. Maybe it's Civ II meets MOO II ?

Moo2 already is pretty much a civ2 clone, I don't see how you can make those game look even more close to eachother.

It doesnt sound like a dinosour game to me. Ya'll need to rethink and come up with better conclusions. It points to post-dino era. right?

I myself imagined this new project to extend the story of Alpha Centauri. From planetary control, to galactic control. Possibly a more sophisticated MoO. Dinosaurs? Please no. Oh please no.

From what Firaxis have been throwing around, it looks that this is almost certainly a pre-history game. It is still debatable wether it is a dino game or as I have previously said a multiple race game trying to achieve 'intelligence' before the other races. Have to say that a dinosaur game is looking much more likely though.

"65 million years in the making."

This could mean it is going to take 65 million years to make this game.

Or it could mean they started 65 million years ago on this game.

If they talked about the making of the dinosaurs, dinosaurs appeared around 225 million years ago.

Or it could mean after 65 million years ago that we begin playing, playing as a species (as others said).

"65 million years in the making" offers 65 million possibilities.

"Requires a brain bigger than a walnut." I don't think all dinosaurs had a brain that size.

Didn't Troodon have what scientists say a large brain?

Dstryker: If they took 65 millions years to make the game, there better not be any bugs in it!!!
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

What will the world come to after CivIII?

Have to admit that that intro does sound rather appealing:

                                'An asteroid never came..'

An asteroid just misses earth by a whisker.

                                'And dinosaurs lived on'

Some cool cut scenes where some velociraptors run around killing stuff.

                                'As did humans..'

The raptors and the humans go it in combat, humans with primitive spears..

Well it does sound pretty good.
